My order got cancelled by Tesco (with note to say to reorder once resolved with card issuer) because Barclays fraud department queried the transaction and left a message on my phone. By the time I called them back and then got online the 75% off offer had finished and it had reverted to 50% off. I told them in no uncertain terms that if they do not fully compensate me for missing out on ordering 2 of these I will see them in the small claims court. I have since had a letter saying they are looking into the matter but it will take several weeks. If its back to full price by then then the more I will be claiming as I could afford the 75% off price but not the 50% off or full price.Tim_Deegan wrote: »The security checks at the time of ordering on line will usually kick back anything that doesn't match up. After the transaction there are more checks carried out which take into account buying patterns etc. This appears to be why they called you, but if they were happy that it was you making a one off expensive purchase, then they should have let the transaction go through, and not cancelled the order.
The blocks on the cards that were mentioned earlier should have been picked up at the actual time of purchasing, and not later on.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

It appears that the 75% off was an error on Tescos web site, so they probably have a get out clause.0 -
My order got cancelled by Tesco too.
HOWEVER, I love mattress threads as they always get so personal. Forget religion, money, relationships - mattresses are the biggest threat to world peace I've come across in years!!!0 -

There is something odd going on with Tesco and Barclays. My mum and I have both had orders (not for the mattress) cancelled due to Barclays querying the transactions. I order several items a week from different online retailers, and this is the only problem I have had. Bizarre!Gone ... or have I?0 -

I don't know if you are aware about the system used for card security, but there is a system that gives a possible fraud score for each transaction. This can be determined by loads of things which I don't know if I'm allowed to go into. It is possible that Tesco have now changed to a stricter limit and this is now causing some cards to be rejected that wouldn't be normally. This system gives it's score after the actual checkout process, which may be why your transaction is first of all accepted, but then later cancelled.
I would have thought that in the interest of customer service they could actually call you rather than just cancel your order.0 -
I saw this chat in a forum when searching on google for Tim Deegan and is 'business' - it was written by a user called Mojomoj
My experience of mse forums is only shortlived. I recently joined, I’ve posted some advice to other users where I’ve thought it might help save them money, and today it tells me I’ve been banned, with no reason given, and for good. I know for a fact that I haven’t insulted anyone, or criticized Martin (I don’t really care for the bloke, but I’m not posting on threads that involve him), or broken any of the rules….
I suspect that one of the prolific posters on the site (he sells beds, his name is Tim Deegan, he’s a bit of a bully and he uses the mse forum to advertise his own company covertly), has objected to my praising a rival company of his, and I think he’s best buddies with someone from mse and that’s what’s got me banned!
So mse forum to me seems a complete waste of time, if they ban users without warning or even giving them a reason.0 -

Yes I've seen that too, and I nearly fell off my chair laughing:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:If I remember rightly it was on a site for MSE haters.
I don't know who Mojomoj is, and to be honest if they waste their time making libelous comments like that then I don't really care. I presume they are probably one of the trouble makers whos sole intention is to disrupt the forums, and close down threads.
If they got themselves banned, then it must have been their own doing, and is nothing to do with me. To get banned you have to seriously flout the rules, and ignore all the warnings.
I don't know anyone from MSE, especially Martin. Although I did try to contact him once without any luck. And I certainly don't have any power over the forum.
I used to get things wrong occasionally when I first started on MSE, and I got my wrists slapped for it, but I know the rules now and stick to them. The forum is open to all as long as they stick to the forum rules. I have taken a lot of undeserved abuse in the past from trouble makers (or trolls as they seem to be known on here), and the reason I continue to give advice is because of the number of messages I get thanking me (and telling me to ignore the trolls).
Now I hope this isn't an attempt to start more personal attacks on me, as it is way off topic?
By the way, why would you be searching for Tim Deegan on google?0 -
Mattress on order - great! But any ideas as where to get torsion base?

It's standard practice by Barclays so I wouldn't worry. Their system just monitors the pattern of purchases on your card. Uncharacteristically high purchases will trigger alarm bells. As will the £2 test transactions that Tesco and other retailers sometimes put through on new accounts or cards. Fraudsters are likely to try small amounts on stolen cards as well apparently and purchases from mobile phone companies are most likely to arouse suspicions.
Quite normal. Just reply to their fraud prevention phone call and they will unblock your card.0 -

I presume you work for Barclays. So I was wondering if you could tell me, do they use Third Man, or is that just part of Sage Pay?0
