Probably because on a lot of the items in Tesco Direct, including beds, in the bit where it gives delivery options it will say UK Mainland only if this is the case.

Well I've never bought from them, but I'm sure I remember near the start of the thread someone saying that they had added that clause after the original pricing error.

Mine has just been cancelled with a promise of a full refund - whoop de do, like I would have let them keep the money! - I love major superstores treating northern ireland as though it were outer space and therefore unreachable! Boo Tesco's

Nothing here about the clause being added after the mis-price had been noticed only that they wouldn't deliver to this customer in NI. There are a good number of large items on Tesco Direct that they state they will only deliver to Mainland UK.

It didn't in my case. I entered my address - including postcode - during the order process, and they still accepted my order. I am not best pleased!

Above each item on the website it gives description, features, delivery options and related items, if you click on delivery options it tells you there if its UK Mainland only or throughout the UK.

In that case it shouldn't accept orders that don't have a UK mainland post code. But then it appears that they made a few mistakes on the web site, which is why this thread was started in the first place.

Sorry for any confusion I was just replying to your point about Silentnight selling in NI and the point is on this occasion its Tesco Direct selling the product not Silentnight and Tesco Direct do make it clear on every item where they will deliver to. If the customer is outwith UK mainland then it really is up to them to check these details before placing an order and I don't see why Tesco Direct should place a blanket ban on all orders with a non UK mainland post code when in fact they do deliver a lot of items outwith the mainland.

I don't see it as a mistake just a glitch with the 50% off which has happened before and I look forward to having the chance to put up my new Christmas tree and lights from the glitch that happened last year and well done to those who got their order in for this mattress.

It wouldn't be difficult for a company the size of Tescos to have a post code block added to the web site.

I don't know if it was a mistake by Tescos not saying UK mainland only, or if the buyer didn't read it properly.

The items are added to web sites manually, so it would have been a mistake by the person adding the listing who added a discount twice by accident.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm not convinced these "errors" aren't deliberate. Far too many for Tesco, and is it just to direct traffic??

Of course Tesco could do a postcode block themselves. Insurance comparison websites manage it, why can't Tesco?
