  • Although, on-the-surface, Giffgaff looks like a good deal (primarily because of the 8p p/m call cost), it does seem that their top-ups expire after 1 month. In comparison to 3 and Orange whose credit doesn't expire, Giffgaff doesn't look so good. I'm still waiting for Giffgaff to get back to me, as there seems to be no mention of the expiry time of top-ups either on their website or in their T&C's. Can anyone shine any light on this?

There are 2 ways to use giffgaff. If you just topup your credit does not expire and you pay 8p/min for calls and 4p/min for texts. Alternatively, you can buy a goodybag these are the products that last 1 month. So for example if you buy a £10 goodybag (which is £5 in July) you get 100 minutes of calls, unlimited texts and unlimited Internet. After the goodybag expires you either go back to using your credit or you can get another goodybag.
    Does that clarify it?

And you can definately queue the goodybags, they don't all start at the same time?

Yes, but you can only have one queued at any one time (in addition to the currently active one)

for example I have one active that expires on 6th Aug and another one queued that will start on 7 Aug.

I don't believe this is correct, I am on GiffGaff and your credit doesn't expire after a month, the only thing that expires after a month is a goodybag and you don't have to buy one of these, they are basically a package that you buy which include minutes, texts and internet, however it only lasts for a month.

You can queue GoodyBags, the first starts imediately and the second starts as soon as the first has finished, you can only have one in use and one in your queue. Hope this helps

Talkmobile SIMs are definitely worthy of a look in during this discussion if you're not looking for unlimited texts.
If 8p/min calls 8p/min voicemail and 4p/texts are likely to together get you to a fiver each month, then consider

    £5.00/month SIM - 100 mins 100 texts 100mb data and free voicemail

Once the giffgaff half price promo is over, this may be better for some, but only if you don't go over the bundle regularly (30p min and 12p text!). You can always move to a bigger bundle of course.

Can you stop and start this as you like or is it a 12m contract?
