Optimax ask you to pay £30 deposit which is either refunded after the consultation or you can get it taken off the price of your treatment

Optical Express and Ultralase are both free

had my first consultation today was with ultralase
was in there for longer than expected 9.00 to 11.30 so allow longer than recommended time.
They had to take the pictures lots of time and i had to hold my eyelid open so they could get all the eye on the computer.
Thorough test lots of drops, lights , focus , dont blink,do blink, went through things that could go wrong ,recovery period etc. Ther was a tick sheet that as each item was mentioned the consultant ticked off and asked if i undrstood.
I did but thinking more clearly now i should have written down stats to compare them against other companies as i cant remember them now.
I ws told they had a new type of wavefront machine just arrived this week that folows the contours of the eye whereas the older ones view the eye as flat - and they are the only ones in the country to have this machine. When i asked of details o fthe actual machine ie model so i could check it out they didnt know and were a bit funny and said they would send details in the post.
Went in to see another girl about cost she wouldnt move on the price
£1995 each eye - all laser and wavefront
£2395 each eye - all laser and new wavefront
will check out details on new machine and see how i get on with the other consultations next week .
seems a bit dear in comparison ith the others though.

ultralase wouldny budge on price with me either, or optical express, optimax did a lot. they all said roughly the same thing to me and quoted all the same sort of stuff and did exactly the same tests but i felt optimax explained things a bit better to me and made sure i understood, also i had a few friends who had been to optimax, one recently and a couple over 2yrs ago and they are still feeling great about it. good luck with the other companys and yes definatley leave a bit longer for appointments think i was in optimax around 3 hrs in all on initial appointment having the tests and talking to staff etc

Check this out guys - I went for a consultation at Optimax Manchester last week and they did all the test etc and then when it got down to the price they were quoting me £3500 for the top spec Lasik - I then showed them the above offer by printing it off and taking it with me and I've got myself a rather good bargain as it's now only costing me £1995 - 2 years interest free too - no credit checks neither! Booked in for the end of August - cannot wait

Coxy - yes great minds think alike - ive got the offer printed out and ready to produce for my next appointment . I will be more aware of what to ask for on the next one . Think i will get mie done at end of augustaswell as going back to work then and dont want the op to spoil my summer hols.

Im glad you found a good deal at optimax, however i would do more research on the manchester branch of optimax, i was swayed by the price, but cancelled and at going to oe tommorrow for my treatment.

I dont mean to sound rude as im sure you have researched everything very well, but the reviews i read actually made me cancel there and actually my gut feeling was not to proceed as well.

I googled them and also went on the following web sites as well:- www.lasik-eyes.com ( i think thats correct), there are a few sights another is ultralases own website but there are loads of sections to it with details of other porviders as well.

I had mine done intralase wavefront lasik at oe at the trafford centre and cannot praise them enough for everything. I can see well just waiting for far sight to settle down but overall wish i had done it years ago.

If I can be of any more help please let me know, but do read up on optimax in manchester, im sooooo glad i dident go ahead with them, their sales tactics and aftercare sound dredful. They will be cheaper that others but at what cost if you know what I mean.
