I think I only had a choice of 3 places near me i.e. Ultralase,Optimax and Optical Express. Was a spur of the moment decision and could get appointment quicker in Ultralase. I couldn't fault them-they were brilliant and offer life time aftercare. I think the others may be cheaper though. I had 10% discount through my union and £50 as I knew someone else who'd had surgery with them.0

And if anyone's going to Ultralase and I refer them they can get £50 off and i'll get £20. Not such a good offer as Optimax but better than nothing.0

just out of interest how much can one expect to pay for everything. not just the procedure, ut aftercare appointments, prescriptions drops etc.
There is a clinic at Royal Hallamshire Hospital (NHS) in Sheffield that offers laser eye surgery (not on NHS scheme obviuosly). However, it costs £3000 for either LASIK or LASEK. However, that is the full price of everything included.
Ta!

I had my treatment done at FOCUS Laser Vision on Wimpole Street last Thursday and I could see very clearly 4 hours later.
On the 1 day post-op I can read the 20/20 line without problem and if I concentrate I could read 20/15 line :j
The treatment cost me £2290 and I'm documenting my experience in my Lasik Diary which can be found at daryl-lasik-diary.blogspot.com
This is the best thing I have done to myself and I can highly recommend FOCUS clinic if you wish to have your eye sight corrected, you can drop me a line if you have any questions :-)

I visited four providers before selecting FOCUS as it offers the most competitive treatment charges with all laser treatment, which means the Lasik flap is created via Laser as opposed to the blade cut flap.
The charges of the four clinics :
Optical Expresses - £3150
AccuVision - £2200 (Blade cut Lasik)
Ultralase - £3990
FOCUS - £2290 (All laser Lasik)
FOCUS also run a referral scheme that if I recommend 10 people to them I will get my treatment fees back. If you are interested in having a consultation, do drop me a line and I can send you a card that entitled you for a FREE consultation.0 -
I am thinking of having Laser Eye and I am located centrally in the country - 30 minutes away from Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Birmingham. Does anybody recommend a particular compnay or surgeon in the midlands or know how I can find out?
Any help much appreciated.0 -
I had laser surgery at Optimax 14 years ago and still have 20:20 vision, had my yearly eye test last week. Well pleased.
Have referrel code if anyone wants it RAF1108. PM me for other details you will need.0 -
Two of my friends recently had theirs done at Birmingham, not sure of the surgeon though but they highly recommend them. They also got £500 off using my referral code. Good luck!0
