That's great, cheers!
Going to book Optical Express then, and just go for it I think, the Wavefront one if I can get it. Well, the consultation first of course to check every thing's okayDo you want to PM me with the referral details? If I get £50 off, then honestly don't even worry about the £25, I'd just be happy with that
One final question, how do they determine what needs to be done to your eyes? is it by the shape etc, or by eye tests? I only ask because my latest glasses are awful, and I think it's because Boots screwed up my eye test - and I really, really don't want to risk being stuck with crappy eyes like that0 -

Many thanks, Optimax looks good, but to be honest I think I've got my heart set on Optical Express now - just their site etc looks a bit more reputable (sad I know!!) and I can get a consultation locally0

... unless it's the exact same treatment in the exact same clinic? Is this one of those things where it's all done in the same place mostly, it just depends on which company you get the service through?0

It can be almost the same treatment but really you need to check the experience of the surgeon. Personally went for an experience who had done more than 20,000 eye operations and where i felt comfortable with the clinic. It is a very hard choice. I almost signed for Ultralase where i was influenced by the posh offices and helpful optoms but was disappointed by the unfriendly sales techniques they offer. They would not given me any discount, when asked. But a few weeks later offered me a massive discount worth several 00's but that was with a low experience surgeon only.
This is your eyes so if you can do some research and get opinions.
Ultralase have a really good websforum for all people to use and another is lasikeyes.co.uk0 -
Nice one, thanks mutley!
This is my problem though, a mixture of laziness and getting quickly overwhelmed by loads of options means the more I think about something, the less likely I am to do it.
Will just book Optical Express I think, and during the consultation I'll tell them I'll just go for the safest treatment and don't mind travelling/paying extra to get an experience doctor person0 -
I WOULD RECOMMEND OPTIMAX MANCHESTER TO ANYBODY !!!
Facilities, staff and results all fantastic
It wasn't that I didn't want to wear glasses ...
It was just the inconvenience and annoyance of them steaming up, getting wet in the rain and the problems this causes doing things outside like walking and horseriding and not being able to see well enough without them to go swimming etc
I can honestly say I wish I had been able to have the treatment years ago !

Great info again, thanks guys.
Just read this on the Moorfields website:Will I still need glasses after surgery?
Around a third of patients still require glasses for some distance purposes (for example, night driving) after LASIK.0 -
Great info again, thanks guys.
Just read this on the Moorfields website:
A third? A third still need glasses? What the hell?
The risk of wearing glasses really depends on your current prescription and eye health and how your eyes react to surgery. Everyone is different. But note most people over age of 40 years may still require reading glasses as its normal with eye health as you get older!0
