He had it done at Optimax and was very happy with the service and the results. Its reassured me as I was starting to get a bit nervous about all the negativity towards the place but my cousin would have chosen the best possible place regardless of price. (Whereas I'm trying to get the best possible treatment for the best possible price!)
Missile, sorry to hear it didn't go as planned for you, have you had an explanation as to why or have they offered to re-do the procedure for you?
Thank you for this - really appreciated - I am in the same boat as yourself - was trying 2 get the happy medium and they also offered no quibble interest free payments which has greatly helped - I've managed 2 get my booking changed to the 19th August so not far away now - REALLY excited:j0 -

Is this the total price or is this dependant on prescription like the "£395 per eye" type of offers that actually ending up costing thousands!!0 -
OK, i'm booked in for a consulatation next week at Notts branch and hoping to use the above offer. If anyone wants me to use a referrer voucher, let me know (if they will accept them with this offer that is!)0

My daughter has booked to have her eyes done next wednesday at Optimax in Liverppool, what I am wondering is what care a person needs after they have had them done. I only want to know as her husband works away and she has a 3 year old daughter. My wife and I think it would be better to wait until her husband is home. Any info much appreciated.:pB&SC No. 298

It depends which treatment she has if its lasik then she should be fine the next day, but the hours following the treatment will be hard if shes on her own with a little one,if its lasek then i cant speak from experience but i have been told its quite painful for about a week. I was fine the day after lasik, just have to dodge little hands lol (my sons two !!!) but i did have my oh at home incase i wasent upto looking after him on my own. I think she may be better waiting until her oh is at home incase she dosent feel upto looking after daughter, also she will need to go for a 24hr check up the next day as well:j mseswgwa:j0

Hi guys,
Sorry to post this as I'm not actually after cost cutting tips (quite the opposite!) but just some general advice...
I'm thinking of booking a consultation with Optical Express, and having the 'Advanced CustomVue Wavefront LASIK with IntraLase' treatment - £1,100 per eye.
A few questions though...
1. Are Optical Express the best company to go with? I want something reputable as opposed to cheap!
2. Is the ''Advanced CustomVue Wavefront LASIK with IntraLase' treatment generally a good one to go for? Again I want something that's preferably safe and least risky.
Cheers guys, any advice would be great - really wanna get this done asap now0 -

1. This question really depends on how you view the service from your OE clinic and surgeon. hence its best to "shop" around get the free consultations from other providers for expert opinions and advice before doing this. But to answer your question they are one of the biggest providers of eye surgery in europe and they offer a all round service. They recently offered lifetime aftercare, although this is not noted in the T&CS but on my last check up they said its been offered to all patients in response to Ultralases offer. Other than that they offer 24hr aftercare and all eye drops.
2. Intralase is the cutting of the surface of your eye usng laser to create flap. Using a laser flap givers greater accuracy than the hand help tool microkeratome, which can still give results but efficiency is dependant on surgeon experience - this is also cheaper option. Intralase does carry few risks (dry eye, infections and side effetcs) than the hand help cutting device.
Wavefront is a greater accuracy method of laser treatment which helps to remove some of the abbrations on the eye cornea which is not treated by general laser surgery. Results can be varied by using wavefront, but if you can afford best to go for it.
Also i notice that Ultrase offer £65 for consultations booked via Quidco!0
