get a view opinions from different clinics..try OE, Ultralase and Optimax as the major players. Also see if the Eye hospital in your area offer LAS thro a private company in their building. I considered:
    - experience of surgeon - A MUST
-ease of access to surgeon if any problems and questions (a resident surgeon is helpful)
    -helpfulness of clinic & staff
    - what operation they recommend#
    - do they inform you of all the risks and side effects
-after care and ease of access and out of hours service

Dont be takn my special offers by any clinic by signing by a date - these are your only eyes so do your research well. Some places offer special discounts but only provide a less experienced surgeon.
When you have finally decided on the surgeon and clinic then you can try haggling for a discount of special offer!

i work for an optom and we recently had someone come in who had went to have Lasek done at a large chain of opticians who advertise on TV. She left their room (didn't have the lasek due to the suction cup not holding on her eye) with puffy eyes and when we saw her the next morning her eyes were actually bleeding, we had to refer her to a hospital!

I had my vision corrected 9 years ago in Newcastle at Contact lens Clinic (now part of Optimax). I have had no problems since then and cannot believe the difference that it has made to my life - I was extremely short sighted (-9.0 & -8.5) I was told at the time I may be left with residual short sightedness as I had a strong prescription but fortunately this was not the case.
I am surprised to see so many people wanting to know where the cheapest clinic is (by the same token the most expensive does not mean the best service either). I appreciate that everyone want best value for money but I think the best course of action is to do your research first, speak to others who have had the op, where did they have it done?, what is the aftercare like? This is an op to consider carefully as if something goes wrong there could be all manner of lasting side effects.

Having said that it is the best decision I have ever made! Good Luck to everyone considering it!!

One of my friends recommended me Turkey for lasik. Also my doctor speaks very good English. I can recommend World Eye Centers to everybody. Because my vision is 20/20 right now.

Not very convincing - your English let you down.

I disagree, if you go travelling, you will understand that the world doesnt revolve around Britain or USA.

Going abroad for laser is great as long as you get an experianced person - If you go for laser treatment in the uk, you shouldnt care of the price/company - you should consider sucessful track record/experiance of the Doctor that will be performing the operation - who knows, you might get a Junior dr performing your treatment at Optimax or Ultralase.
