Yes they do charge more for higher prescriptions
the more + or - you are the more it could potentially cost.
This is because they have to cut more, the calculations involved and the risks go up
I guess also the more it would potentially save you too, in terms of the cost of glasses and contacts.

I think its strange a clinic would charge more if the prescription is higher. In the end its the laser that does the job. With higher prescription the laser just has to burn off more cells. The cutting of the flap is the same procedure no matter the prescription.

    Hi,
I have just booked a consultation at Optimax in London for the beginning of May. I have been saving my tesco vouchers in order to use them for the surgery however I have only just discovered the 'recommend a friend' scheme on these forums (and ebay).

Firstly, does anyone know if I can still get the referral discount if someone is to kindly pass on their details? (even though I have booked the consultation already!)

...and secondly can the discount be used with the tesco vouchers?

I was wondering about the tesco vouchers too. When i originally checked with the contact centre they said yes, but when the girl from the glasgow branch called yesterday she said no.

They have offered to do it same day and have quoted £895 per eye in advance, do they have some kind of price match policy at all?

i had my appoinment today (pritesh i added the reffer a friend code on after i had booked my appointment abut three weeks after no problems)

apparentley you cant us tesco vouchers and get discount codes so i was told today

my original quote was £3675 and i just said straight away i cant afford that and then asked if that was with my reffer a friend £500 off and she said no and took it off so it went down to £3175. said i still couldnt afford it and she took off another £395 which took it down to £2780 and i said really i was looking between £2000 and £2500 so she took some more of and i got it down to £2605 which im quite happy with. (would of been happier if i could use my tesco vouchers as well) just waiting for my appointment to have it done now.

if any one wants a voucher for £500 off just pm me

So you ended up paying cash rather than Tesco vouchers? - I have about £1700 worth of deals to use and am considering having my eyes done, but if I have to add £2000 of my own money with no room to haggle, then I'll save them for something else!

i ended up paying a £1000 deposit which i had saved up and put the rest on two yrs interest free credit so works out around £65.oo a month for me.
the deposit doesnt have to be that much though at all i just wanted lower monthly payments.

they wouldnt drop the price for me and let me use tesco vouchers.

but its worth having an appointment because your eyes might not be as bad as mine so might not cost as much, i was there around two hrs in all for my consultation (this was in the finchley road , london optimax)

Hope you were not just driven by cost on your choice of surgery provider?
    Please consider :
    -clinic and helpfulness of staff
    -experience of surgeon
    -back up aftercare
-availability of clinic if you need help
    -out of hours support

Although i do appreciate the cost is a major factor but this is a major operation in terms, as you only have one set of eyes!

no i have done my research, i have actually been to three different clinics and had all the tests and explanations and information and i felt although they were allmore or less on the same par, this clinic actuallt took the time to go through things step by step and explain exactly what happens, highlights all the good and bad to make you aware and actually insists you have time to think about and read all the info before just doing it, and thier aftercare service looks really good too.

    but thanks anyway
