I managed to get 30 mins in the garden and am hoping to do some more after lunch. I have managed to get something else ticked off on my list.
OWN TASKS
Hoe and weed garden already done
[STRIKE]Weed near rhubarb[/STRIKE]
Clean inside of car if time
Start on bush at bottom of garden if time
I have kind of done it anyway. I am quite new to the gardening lark and am trying to learn from my mum as I go along (she normally comes and does it for us). The bush at the bottom of the garden, that's what I thought it was, is more like 5 small trees! I am going to make a start on those after my lunch but I am going to have a long break first as it looks like really hard work.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

In that HHC, I planted the wintersweet shrub, and the autumn bulbs (bit worried it's too late for this year) and the alliums, and have relocated some crocus bulbs and a couple of plants which were in smaller pots that my nan gave me - I want to use the smaller pots for salad leaves next year, and have all the bulbs and plants in the larger pots. In fact,I think I need more large pots, four isn't enough, especially as one is going to have a clematis in it. And one is still full of MOAM's geraniums, they are doing great! And I've still got two plants flowering that were in the "nearly dead" section of B&Q - amazing what a bit of water and soil can do!
I'm very pleased with my tiny garden - all i've done is shove things in soil, and water occasionally between rain, and it's all growing like mad! Wow!
Came in, phone rang twice and I've had lunch, hence why im reporting back so late."Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Rosepink - I wish I could say the same for my garden.
Mine is huge and when we moved in, the girl before us hadn't done anything so we had a lot to clear, the guy before her had it looking beautifully. My mum really helped get on top of all beds but 2 about 3 years ago, but unfortunately the compost was riddled with bindweed which we hadn't realised and so it really is back-breaking work to get it done. I had tried to clear around things but we have finally decided that it is easier to empty the beds completely and then start again. I have cleared some and have bulbs ready to plant for spring so I need to get some winter bedding plants to pretty things up until they flower.
My garden is beautiful and once I can get on top of it, it will be great. I just lack motivation sometimes.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Hi Peeps
Havent been able to get on the computer since DH tried to load some softwear for his new phone    so just checking in from work so that I can get the full weeks list, although some flying has been done.
DH had to fit a new sink and taps on Wed as the old ones were leaking badly so the undersink cupboard has been gutted, the dross thrown away and now put back in an orderly fashion.
Oh and the mess has all been cleaned  there was a lot of it !!!
Think I might do a small shop on the way home tonight then tea and a bit of flying (feel in the mood for it now although I might not by then!) oh and update my finances
Tomorrow will be into town, bank, hopefully not too much shopping although DD wants to change the euros she has left for pounds so she will want to spend, then home for more flying.
If I dont get back on enjoy your weekend.

Rosepink - what bulbs are they? I haven't even ordered mine yet - really must get on with it. You can get away with things like tulips up to about March I think. Crocuses, daffodils, alliums etc are fine now too.
HHC 13.15-13.45 anyone? I need to hoover upstairs and make a start on the boys room.
ajmoney - I do sympathise. The people before us had been in for a long time (50 years plus, in their 80s when they died) and had been keen gardeners in their younger days. They started with seven acres, slowly sold bits off as it got beyond them and is now I think just over quarter of an acre. For some years they just had the gardener turn over the soil and left what used to be well planted and maintained drift. The house had been empty a year when we moved in so we inherited lots of overgrown azaleas, hydrangeas, conifers, couch grass and very little else. It is hard work (and expensive) getting it to come to life again. She didn't work, the children were at boarding school, and she had a gardener and a cleaner! Not sure I will be going back in the garden as it is getting darker. I am shattered so it might be a blessing in disguise.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

The worst thing in our garden is bindweed. I think I may have found some roots wrapped around the roots of rhubarb today. Now think it may be better to move that to a part of the garden that I am managing to keep weed free. Not very confident on that though so it might have to wait for my mum's visit.
Most of the flower beds are full of grass too and needless to say, the roots of those are being a pain! I have done quite a lot in 2 weeks (for me) so the 2 I have left before my folks descend should be enough to get the garden under control. The plan is to get to the stage where we can tackle the last few tough bits with my mum (she knows what she is doing!) so it is maintenance and fun planting etc afterwards.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
