Yey all kids settled for the night, managed to sort out a bit of time with each of them to get various bits organised.

Just having a nice little glass of rose and debating a packet of chrisps.

    - this will make you smile, I excelled in pilates today - I was best at being able to totally relax all of my stomach muscles and pelvic floor! They are so used to being switched off, it is the switching on which is the tough bit:o

Mudbath - well done! I thought of you yesterday when sorting out under the bed, the story of you finding a door still makes me grin

Serena hope you are ok hun and not missing your Mum too much. One of your boys did DofE I think - are they supposed to cook much:confused:DS is planning on taking a disposable BBQ and cooking hotdogs plus eating chrisps and chocolate. He has teamed himself up with boys who are scouts as he reckons they will know how to do everything and he can just wander behind them listening to music.

Need to reply to a couple of emails and then decide on tv or bed, I need a new book to read.

I think I'll probably be in a similar state [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when I get back to classes :o I think I need to make exercise a priority for next week!

re. DofE - I know I did mine eons ago, but we had to take camping stoves and cook a proper meal (we got given army rat packs which were disgusting, and were penalised for not eating properly). We also had to have proper food to eat during the day. Part of the challenge is to do with feeding yourself properly.

Some suggestions for food - the 'Look what we found' meals are good, and they've got a special off on at the moment; pasta; baked beans; tinned tuna; couscous; cheese (babybel are good as they're in their own packaging!). Nuts/raisins & cereal bars for snacks during the day. A hot drink is good at night, so tea/coffee/hot choc and longlife/powdered milk or a cupasoup. Some chocolate and sweets are fine, but they need carbs to keep them going. Banana would be good. You also need to think about breakfast (instant oat cereal?).

Remember they need to think about volume as well as weight, so crisps would be a nightmare. You need to work out what will give the maximum nutrition for the lowest weight & space (that he'll eat!), so dried stuff is by far the best - they'll have access to water at the campsite.

You can get cheap camping stoves fairly easily, but they'll only need one between two (possibly not even that if they plan in advance)

Hope this helps... oh yes... and do tell him that getting the bus/train/taxi or a lift is considered cheating ;)
