Good evening all, have done lunches for tomorrow so 1 more to tick off the list.
Just been catching up on the thread and have noticed people getting ready for christmas so popped onto the occassions board for some ideas on hampers....came across one for left handers( DD is left handed ).......t'was only Lil-me!!!!!!!........anyway, this was back in 2006 and was just wondering how he is getting on?....... and did anything you bought work???????0 -
Triker - I hope it turns out to have been a productive day for your recovery, if not for anything else.
I'm back from my cake-making. There's another photo on FB for those of you who want to see it!
My car has also had it's MOT. I didn't get back until after they were closed, so have to go in and pay tomorrow, on my way to Kent. Before that I need to go and get my rear tyres sorted, as it appears they're both close to the limit. I might as well get it out of the way.
I did two Italian modules on the train... I expect I'll get another one done while getting the tyres done, and probably a couple while I'm away. I won't be able to do anything in the car, as it's part CD, part book. I really need to borrow French & Italian audiobooks for car journeys!
Any tips from teachers as to how to accelerate my language learning would be appreciated...
Flying this week has been minimal, but I feel I've achieved quite a lot of other things (although I'm waiting for quite a lot of calls back ). I've spoken to the coach who a friend recommended, and although she's wildly expensive, I should have enough left in my training budget for a few sessions...
As I wasn't here last week, I'm not that worried about the lack of flying this week, but I will need to have a real blitz next week so that it's all prepared for going back to work :eek:0 -
:eek:Still have some of tuesdays list to do, was way too tired last night, Rose DD must attend meetings with her YOO once a fortnight, do 6 hrs community service with them and 2 hours punishment for me, she will attend a drink/drug course, self esteem group (to help build hers up) and also attend school for the next 4 month period oh and she gets a mentor to take her out and do stuff(not sure of this one but it was offered and she jumped at the chance to go bowling/pictures etc etc) it is a 4 month refferal order and if any of the contract is broken she will be in more trouble.
Greenbee, re French: Michel Thomas audio cds are absolutely brilliant - that's what I'm using, my parents are too, my sister (who hates languages has learnt loads!) and another couple we know are all using it, and we all love it. He teaches you French in the way you learned your own language
This evening I've done washing up and cooked dinner, done laundry and more walking. Have a few other things that I should do, but really can't be bothered and the football is on and so I get to have the laptop! Yay!
Have a nice evening everyone"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

Another manic day. Greenbee total immersion is the answer, but I realise you can't just pop off to Italy. Can you find someone, maybe on here? who can do conversation over the phone a couple of times a week?
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

That's what I thought . It's how I learnt my Italian in the first place - 3 months in language school in Florence. If I hadn't found a job so quickly I'd have tried to do a month in Italy and then possibly the same in France, but it hasn't worked out like that! I don't think I could do conversation on the phone - at least not yet! I'm trying to persuade a friend who is married to an Italian and wants to do a course in Venice next year (just a week, and it'll be cheap as we can stay at her in-laws flat), that we should go and see a language school in Oxford next week to sort out a programme of classes for each of us that will bring us up to the same standard by the time we go to Venice (mind you, it might be better if we're in different classes, but I guess that would depend on how far apart our abilities are!). As well as classroom stuff they do sessions on skype & by phone, so I'm hoping that might work for me with the travelling.
I also need to get my French up to scratch, and remember a bit of spanish & german - just enough to make polite conversation! I'm a bit worried that I'll end up not being able to speak any language properly!
Right... I've cleared down a load of email, send of some stuff that needed doing, and now I need to find some food and have a bath and an early night!0 -

Either way, all I can say is I have NOO idea how people who actually leave the house every day manage to get anything done, Im only plowing through the lists this week (and other weeks) because I dont have to go to work/college etc. If I did, I can tell you for a FACT that I wouldnt do anything.
If someone else was feeling unmotivated like you do, I wonder what you would say to them? I bet it would be something about baby steps and just achieve what you can!!!!! Take your own advice and be proud of what you DO achieve, hun!!

Thank you. It's teaching and, cos it's the start of a new year, I'm dealing with all sorts from round the department on top of the teaching and it's manic at the moment  I have loads to do for work and I don't think I've done anything here except washing and washing up since last weeki am in a similar state to you....seriously my whole house is a dump and i had a crying session last week as this lot will tell you
