i've never been a very tidy person i've never really cared (horriable isn't it) but the birth of my son changed something in me and i want to be a normal mum with a nice clean house but i have years of rubbish to organise now and don't know where to start plus i don't know how to do alot of things. these fly lady threads have really been helping me but we r moving in 2 months (which is great for a fresh start) but i have loads of stuff thats a mess and tons of washing i can't seem to catch up on.
i manage to get my daliy jobs done thanks to this thread but never seem to find the time to do anything else even if i knew where to start. i have a 1 year old that is into everything and a 8 year old at school so doesn't really effect things and i work mon-fri at night.
where do i start and how do i catch up and any tips for keeping things straight in my new house
sorry again for post (didn't think it fitted on main board its not money saving)
don't panic - you are not the only one!:rolleyes:
my house used to be reasonable - I don't really know what happened - my daughter had a serious ME relapse about 18 months ago...and I have so much more to fit in these days:mad::mad: - when I've had my cuppa I'm going to help her in the shower and then change her bed for her! - she's nearly 19!
I'm really struggling - and the clean and dirty washing have got mixed up again!!! I've got out my SAD light as I felyt myself slowing down - hopefully it will perk me up a bit - it was great last year.....
thinking of you!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

TinkerbellsM great advice already offered... I think that when it's overwhelming lists are brilliant. List everything that you need to do, and then try to tackle one thing every day. The temptation is to feel that you need to do everything at once, and it's impossible, so you end up feeling down in the dumps about it. Babysteps is the way to go to approach every unmanageable task.
Well done on achieving the lists every day :T :T :T :T That's fantastic, but remember too that you're working every night, and working full time at home with your nippers. Not easy lovie! It sounds like you're doing really well.
One thing to consider... there's 4 of you??? is that right? Are you washing things too much? I catch my girls trying to discard clothes for the wash when they're not in the least dirty. DD3 will put stuff to be washed simply because she's tried it on! So I always check now!
Perhaps it could be your older child's job to bring the washing down every day, so that you can do a couple of loads each day???? Maybe? My DD1 has to do that. There's 5 of us, DD3 is a mucky pup, so she has to change everything everyday. I do 2-3 loads a day. Usually one in the morning, possibly one during the day, and then one while I'm doing dinner. I've also bought this washing sorter even though this has one divider down the middle, I sort washing into : whites, light colours, bright colours and darks, as it goes into the sorter, this makes it really easy to chuck in a load. Hope that makes sense??
Perhaps you could chuck stuff as you're packing too, be ruthless!good luck!
thanks yeah theres 4 of us dd 8 and ds is 1 and thank you all for your tips i feel so much better
i went and sorted my washing and yeah there was alot there that was clean to my dd is terriable for it and i haven't got half as much washing as i thought i had. i had been doing 2-3 loads a day but it wasn't going down i know why no will have to talk to her later mad thing is some days i have to send her back up cause whats shes wearings dirty and shes putting clean clothes in washing i think shes mixing her draws and washing basket up.
i have just today gave her job of making sure recycling is done cause thats another big issue of ours one small bin that gets full quick and loads black bags but we can only put out the bin (no bags) once a fortnight but we can put out as many of we like of recycling bags so i thought she might like the job of getting everyone to recyle.
made my lists of what i ahve to do and seeing it in lists all planned out makes it seem organised so not as bad ty0 -

TINKERBELLSMUM
I have the crown for the messiest, fullest, untidiest house on here...
I have barely got through the dailies most days in the last few months.. sometimes I have done nothing for weeks. I had the bright idea I'd catch up once I finished college.. then xh left and the proverbial hit not only the fan but I think it was a wind farm and my whole life went haywire... this was the culmination of about 6 months of sheer hellish events.. rellies and friends dying, a house fire, among other crazy events.
Life is about to throw itself into the blender once again as I start uni.. should the incompetants ever bother to send me a start date and bunkum.. but we get by.. we adapt and our routines change and we achieve what we can.
Somedays I'll have a massive purge and throw out heaps of stuff and others I'll do nothing.. some days I'll get through 20 loads of laundry others it is all I can be bothered to do to get my dirty undies to the basket.. One day I'll not have children at home to rush about after, I'll not have their stuff to fall over and sub my toes on and I know I'll miss it.. make the most of the time while your littlies are littlies and don't sweat it.. relax.. tackle one box at a time and it'll come right..
I filled 200 binbags with rubbish in the couple of months before we moved from our old house and we still brought heaps of junk with us..
Today I have.. unloaded and reloaded the DW
put 2 loads in the WM and 2 loads in the dryer
OH cleaned out the rabbits and the kittens poo tray
I am now going to hang out the other 2 loads and then I need to collect the grots from school.. Then I am off collecting... nothing else will get done.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Hi all
Just a quick question - I am flying today, honest, but this is an outstanding one!
It's a long shot, but does anyone live in the South Oxfordshire area? If so, I wondered whether you could recommend a boiler engineer? Ours is way overdue a service and the person we had booked to come has let us down, and won't be rescheduling an appointment. Our boiler is over 30 years old and he (after taking advice from the manufacturer) has decided that it is too risky to open it up as there *may* be asbestos inside. (I completely understand his reasons, btw). He came on recommendation from my sister....
I've googled, and have come up with a couple, but would be grateful for any other recommendations!
Thanks everso!
D

Caught up with thread, tinkerbellsmum....don't panic, it will get done and like others have said....be ruthless when sorting (easier said than done...I am the worlds worse....still have baby toys because someone else bought them and I feel guilty chucking them...DD is nearly 7!!!!!!......I can't do ebay but find the nearly new section on netmums good......hugs xx)
Off to do the ironing with JB Fletcher xx0 -
