  • Hi all,
I haven't started flying this week as I've had a phone call that's worrying me sick. One of my jobs is coming to an end after this month (I'm self-employed and do several things to bring the money in). It means that we'll be £400 down a month, which is really, really worrying to start with but it's now just occured to me that the loss of this job is going to take my hours down to below 16 a week and that means that it will affect my wf tax credits, so we'll be even worse off.
My head is spinning at the moment and I can't think straight. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of their hours going down and how that affected their WFTC.
Also, is it correct that you are being paid for last year's income so any money that we currently get wouldn't change till next April? My sister seems to think this is the case but I don't think it's as straight-forward as that.
Help! Any advice would be hugely welcome at the moment.
And I'm sorry it's not anything to do with flying.

Blimus, our WTC has been taken off us since last month as apparently they were working against DH's LAST YEARS salary, which was only about 4 months worth as he started his job mid-year (hope this makes sense). They also took into account a bonus which he wont get this year. We rung WTC and told them there would be no bonus but the adjustment wont take effect until after next April when its all recalculated again. So I think your sis is right in that any changes dont come into effect until the next April. We are now about £460 down each month which is really worrying and at the moment just trying to seriously cut down on everything.

  • I've bathed, washed the bath, and got dressed, also did my French lesson while doing all of that, so I can now say: "Je voudrais encore un bottle de vin blanc" - hope I've spelt that right as it's all done verbally and there is no written work.

Milliejo well done on your first star!

Well done Lou on being so organised

    Welcome back Choccybix

Big hugs Blimus, hope things work out for you moneywise – what line of work are you in, if you don’t mind me asking?

I'm going to drag my weary bones out for a walk with a friend this afternoon, hoping it might make me feel a bit better. Not sure what to do until then - tempted to have a nap, but know I really should get on with some stuff. Will have something to eat and then see what happens. Maybe I should do one HHC and then have a nap. Anyway, will decide after eating

    Afternoon ladies!

Nice to see you posting Michelle x
Welcome back Vanilla & MSD x

Blimus how much under the 16 hrs does it make you? If it's only a couple then you can make that up with account keeping, also any chance your other job can average to 16 hrs, I do more on one week than the other but the average is 16? Or don't tell them especially if it's likely you're gonna be getting up to 16 hrs again pretty soon.

Been to work, just having my dinner then going back again to another one. Busy today so not sure whether I'll get my list done, I'm hoping to, it just depends how much energy I've got left when I finally get in (lots of running around to when I've finished work)

I've done the DW and WM though and made the beds etc before I went out.
