Hey folks.
I have also been ripped off by 02 to the sum of £200 odd quid, I also know of 4 other people personnaly that are having the same problem.
The problem I have had today is that I have been dissconnected for non payment even after I was told to pay the minimum until the investigation was complete.
I have decided to do something about it, I would like to ask for you help. I have setup a forums to goto where we can communicate together I would ask you go there and register and hopefully we can get this sorted. The link is http://o2gprsripoff.proboards81.com/index.cgi
Thanks0 -
I have just been stung by them for £50 quids worth but managed to get half of that refunded.
I have never been charged until my last bill (1st one of a new 12 mnth contract) and they were trying to say i must have used loads more data than usual which i knew i hadnt. I made them look at my previous bills and they agreed i had always used that amount.
I am just glad they didnt try and backdate it!
I didnt recieve any text either??
o2s data rates are a complete rip off although i have read that new tarrifs are on the way from April 27th.
They are feeling the pinch from 3 and T Mobiles unlimited data tarriffs0 -
I'll like to add my bit as well i downloaded a few screen savers with my new phone thinking my 1mb free allowance will cover it and the total cost came up to £7 ,for someone that dont spend much every month that is a lot and a bl**dy rip off.0

I did receive a message telling me that GPRS was now chargeable - but fortunately I don't use much data at all! The general problem here is that O2's data charges are astronomical, don't take into account the actual cost of providing the service, and seem based in the days where the only use for GPRS might be looking at a plain text news page once a week. After all, charging £3-ish per MB when T-Mobile charge a maximum of £1 per day or optionally £7.50 a month for unlimited use is a horrible price.
Incidentally I'm moving to T-Mobile for my new N95.0 -
Just spoken to o2 who confirmed to me that new tarrifs ARE coming out on April 27th with a lot better data rates BUT as far as they know they will only apply to new customers!!0

There talking !!!!!! mate - you can upgrade to these tariffs yourself.
Seen these tariff & there a lot better than current offerings0 -
Hi all, long time browser, first time poster.
Got my bill through and it is around the £833 mark for the month! About £750 of this is due to GPRS services.
I used my mobile 4 times to upload and download some files/e-mails from my work PC and my home PC through my mobile. I've told O2 that there is a mistake with my bill as they have itemised over 20 connections to the internet, when in actual fact i used it 4 times. I know this because my work has a record of how much was uploaded and downloaded from my work PC.
Anyway, despite me telling O2 this on a few occasions now, they are adamant that i have to pay the bill, and if i don't then it'll go to debt collectors! I've never ever had any credit problems before so i'm quite worried about this, plus i can't use my phone as it is now barred.
Can anyone offer me advice, i've told O2 that my internet usage should be around the £40-80 mark, but they don't seem to care. I don't know what to do as i'm certainly not going to pay it, but i don't want to get into credit problems.
I am aware of poeple using GPRS without their knowledge and running up large bills but I have instances where large bills (? £400) have been run up in one day!!!!!!!
I am an IT professional and know that it is not physically possible to download the amount of data they are saying I did in the time they said I did it.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone in the same boat.

UPDATE
=====
Having spoken and joined forces with various people with a similar problem this has now been resolved.
Please note that this problem relates to XDA Orbits on O2 which incurred large (100-200MBytes) charges on or around the 30th and 31st of December 2007. Charges could have been anything upt o £700.
If your high charges relate to this particular issue as described above please call contact Sarah Reynolds on 0845 330 0684 or mail her at sarah.reynolds@02.com. She is a senior complaints expert at O2, is well aware of the problem, accepts that it is an O2 issue, and will organize a full refund.
Please only call here if you match the problem described above.
Cheers,
