I just got hit with a £340 GPRS bill. Rang up in only a few days thanks to the 3G network. The annoying thing is, it would only cost about £20 to £40 on the data tariff. Asked O2 and they won't apply tariffs retroactively... oh well.. s'my fault for not thinking about it when I was using it.0

within 48 hours had a nice man call me saying he was sorry and stuff,, dont use exact email please but here it is for you guys
Dear Sir
I have recently upgraded my account with o2 and extended this from my
original 12month contract to a new 18 month contract as I was happy with
the service and customer service I have always been provided with. This
was up until I checked my online bill which I do almost daily and I see I
have been charged £167.73 for gprs bills up until now i had always used
this for free. I always check my bill to ensure that I do not go over my
limits. This was a total shock and with being a student at the end of the
university year I have very little money at the moment and did not expect
my latest bill to be more than 8 times more than any of my previous bill.
Is there not a failsafe to tell customers that they are so much over their
normal spend. If there is no agreement that we can come to then I may have
to reconsider my new contract as I can not afford to pay this amount of
bill at the moment.
Please return any emails to this address.
Thankyou
Alex Hole

I have finally heard back from 02 and they have admitted,on checking, that my number was NOT sent a text message informing me that wap was going to be chargeable
They are refunding all gprs charges and have given me notice that it will become chargeable in 1 month from now
Hope this helps someone who is in the same situation of being charged without notice0 -
Impulse - how did you manage to get them to look at your account again? I am sure that there are many on here who didn't receive the text message and therefore may be able to get them to review their decision.
Many thanks
