Jinky our reindeer has arrived. There's a picture of him in the fridge in my children's advent calendar saying he was feeling a little homesick (thanks for the idea). Underneath he's written that he'd like to watch Father Christmas tomorrow night. This is so much fun! xx

    My Journal is ready..

I will be adding pages as the days go by the first page is printed on the back of the front cover and is a small introduction, and asks for a photo of my little one with Emily:

Day 1 will also have a page for night time mischief with picture/s all ready for the morning the on the back will be day 2's activity and a space to put pictures. And so on for each day.

I have done a back page as well:

  • Am seriously thinking either you lot are mad or I must be???? My darling daughter has yet again stopped me finishing her elf as she has just gone asleep and will no doubt wake at 5 am again! I will finish him but its hard to do atm so he might be a little late arriving but in the spirit of him arriving every train or car horn she hears she says quick mummy it maggik elfed he will arrive soon if it kills me. My eldest nearly 19yr old is well up for the antics I wonder why?? He did say he remembered the fire guard being knocked over and coal on the heart of the fire etc on xmas morning so perhaps even without elf all those years ago some tradition started x night all and good look hope those elves dont get up to too much trouble in the first few days

Just amazing journals and blogs folks. Wow! It makes me so wish that I'd discovered this years sooner, when my boys were younger. I've had to do a pretty sophisticated letter for them ... sadly due to cut backs there's not enough work to go round at North Pole this year and rather than make redundancies Santa has sent 100 elves to UK families 'on sabbatical'. A relatively small % of the children in these families are aged 8-12 and these may have special challenges and tasks, as well as needing to demonstrate their wonderful behaviour. Only the best 10 elves will win guaranteed places in Santa's Number 1 workshop in 2010, and the chance to compete for the coveted place on Rudolf, leading the sleigh for the UK leg of the tour next Christmas Eve.

Phew! I just hope that they enjoy the experience, even if they think that this elf is inanimate!

I started with a red pillow, then ripped it open and made a green one cause the green worked so much better!!

Jinky is a massive hit. My children are 10 and 8 and have decided this is going to be the best Christmas ever. Jinky has left them a note telling them they can watch Father Christmas before school. We don't normally have tv on in the morning so they think it is the biggest treat ever (poor deprived children!).

I'm going to look at starting a blog later.

I only wish I'd started this years ago! xx

    Great photos everyone!!

Our two elves, Moonwisp and Nightstar arrived after breakfast this morning...

Sat them outside the front door on some wooden train advent calendars that we got a few weeks ago and eldest DD went and rang the doorbell while little DS and DD were putting stickers on their reward charts.

They came complete with their sleeping bags (I'm not as creative as some of you on here so I got two little fleecy hot water bottle covers from the Poundshop). They also bought each of them a christmas colouring book and some crayons which they are doing right now. :D
  • I wanted to do the elf thing but my 4 year old son doesn't seem bothered or understands it. I think he is more frightened that this elf will be coming in the house doing stuff. He keeps saying he won't ruin my train track will he. I haven't managed to find an elf and will my next child due soon i prob don't have the time to put as much effort into it as i want to.
I think i will write a letter from the elf and do a few little bits but without the actual elf unless i do find one on my travels.
