My little girl (she is 5 ) was hopping with excitement when she opened the door....her brother who is 3 was more interested in the magic chocolate that the elf brought with her as a gift......our next task is to think of a name for her - they only have numbers at the North Pole!!!
Have tried the name generator but keep getting Horny as an option LOL!!

    My Journal is ready..

I will be adding pages as the days go by the first page is printed on the back of the front cover and is a small introduction, and asks for a photo of my little one with Emily:

Day 1 will also have a page for night time mischief with picture/s all ready for the morning the on the back will be day 2's activity and a space to put pictures. And so on for each day.

I have done a back page as well:

We got the Me to You Tatty teddy that is dressed up from Clinton cards..

Or, there are a few elf looking things on ebay... try searching for Christmas Gnome instead of elf.

I bought mine from Tesco's £2 each. I bought 2 girls and converted one of them into a boy. They also had little reindeers and snowmen which I may have to buy too so that the elves can have a little ride on the reindeers and pretend they've built a snowman! :D

    Rusty - love the handicrafts.
Mudbath - glad I'm not the only one taking part with older children. I wish I'd thought of this years ago too but if I play my cards right it might just keep the magic alive for another season.
Kentmumof1 - I got mine at Poundland and stripped the white bobble off the top of his hat! They had a range of 'fun festive figures' which might be suitable.
My boys seem to have fallen for this hook, line and sinker, which has made my day! Hopefully they won't share the news with sceptics in their class at school. Once they'd asked if they were allowed to pick the elf up and move him they gave him a thorough inspection and concluded that there were no hidden cameras on any part of his personage. DS1 got to the letter (rolled as a scroll and sealed with festive, fragranced wax - thanks for the idea!) first of all and came upstairs to fill his brother in.

I didn't give our elf a name, so one of my sons has called him 'Ralph', which I like nearly as much as Otis! They asked if they could bring him on the school run and when we stopped at the lights I realised that DS2 was showing him his favourite pages of the Tesco Direct catalogue!

The challenge for me now is to think of a couple of really big, imaginative challenges for along the way as I'm not sure how much colouring my boys will be up for (and they get quite alot of homework).

Oh Lordy Lordy! Have you all seen the make your own personalised video from Santa on the Grabbits and Freebies fora? Absolutely amazing!

You can add a photo of your child and it's so detailed and personalised. So much cheaper than a day trip to Lapland too! It might be nice to get a photo of your child with your Christmas elf for Santa to show them in his book on the video.

Scotrae - my DD has said she's never going to be too old for Jinky! Let's hope so. The video is fantastic - it was posted a few page ago on this thread. I did one for my husband saying he'd been naughty. I thought he was going to be sick he laughed so much!
