  • Care to share any ideas of your planned activities?? I am really struggling to get things sorted at the minute, I have some ideas of what the elf can do but not really got ideas about activities for the kids as such.

I have a journal book and managed to get some lovely papers which I will cover the book with this afternoon if I can get DD to bed.
I also have some beautiful organza fabric which will make a lovely bed for my elf (another thing to do tonight) this should have been done a couple of weeks ago but the fabric that I ordered never arrived  and I am still waiting for a refund! .....

    Pics to follow!!! ....

I have a blog all set up and ready to go for Jolly sugar Socks tonight ;)

This is a list of activities "Otis our elf" will give to my children after school to get them in the christmas mood! He will leave the "ingredients" of each activity in a christmas box on the table each day. I brought a lot of the arts and crafts for the activites from 99p store, £land, Wilkinsons and Yellow Moon (in the sale!).

Make Snowman Sock (similar to the Monkey socks)

Colour in Christmas Pictures (free printout froms the net)

Write their Christmas cards for school friends, family and other friends

Write a letter to Father christmas with their "wish list" ;)

My girls will decorate a plain canvas bag with fabric crayons whilst my son will have a wooden pencil box to decorate

Treasure Hunt (this will be a weekend activity or Xmas eve )

Xmas film Evening - good excuse for a snuggle up on the sofa to watch a film! We will do this once a week.

    Board games evening

Bake Christmas cookies & fairy cakes

Make & decorate salt dough decorations

Potato print painting (ideal for younger children)

Charity day ( sort out all their old and unused toys and take to the charity shop or womans refuge this will def take us ages and be a weekend activity!) - We have done this last month

    Make Christmas hand puppets

Decorate candle glass holders with glass paint as pressie for Teachers & Grandparentswith candle in

    Colour in Xmas suncatcher windchimes

Make paper chains for decorating tress and their rooms

    Make Christmas door hangers

    Make Cross stitch book marks

Make crimbo style wooden bracelets (beads and elastic)

Colour and decorate wooden biff bats with balls

    Scrapbooking (stickers and glueing piccies)

Mischeivious & playful things our Elf will get upto when the children are at school or asleep for them to "find" him doing!:

Decorate their bedrooms with lots of snow flakes hung from ceilings

Take a photo of us with Otis Elf all when we are fast asleep

He will be found "fishing" in our fish tank (drinking straw and bit of string )

Snowball fights with my childrens teddys or dolls (cotton wool balls)

    Hide various things

    Hide himself

Be naughty and eat choccies! - Looking forward to that one :D

    Be found watching Xmas films!

Will go to work with my husband one day and my husband will take photos of the Elf doing various jobs (my husband is a warehouse manager so our elf will be photographed driving a lorry, driving a forlift truck, working behind a desk etc etc)

Hope that gives you some ideas. Maybe we could all share ideas so we all have plenty of inspiration.

these letters are brilliant. I will have to copy one down later.

I keep dissapearing into kitchen to do some sewing!!! He will be finished tonight (or early hours of morning!!). I am knicking his name of one of you brilliant people - he is called Otis the Elf (Sock Monkey).

Dont know what activities he will have for kids, will sort that out tomorrow!

Our elf arrived tonight, he was pinned up in a bag on the front door when the little one came in from school - he is so excited (our littlest is yet to come in as he has Christmas Assembly prep tonight) so we get to do it all over again in a little while! :D Batty Mistletoe (elf name generator found on the net came out with that one!) came with a rolled up scroll that was sealed with wax and a snowflake stamped into it - the letter said how Santa was busy this year and BM was a little mischievous so needs to be looked after.......We have so much planned i dont know whos more excited, me or the boys!! :rotfl:

Have printed off letter and passport, just need to dress up Elf a bit (he's a Noddy one so needs xmassing up!) and decide when he'll arrive.
But what I really need is a name!
Needs to be short and easy for little ones to say... all the name generators I've found are for long and complicated Elf names for gamers.
