I tend to wash everything together too, given that I wipe every surface down with disinfectant I dont really see the cloths as being very germy at all.0

I've got some gardening gloves which are quite good quality and I use them a lot. In the garden yesterday I picked up what I thought was bark but turned out to be cat poo. They now stink to high heaven and I really do not want to wear them again. They are lying in the back garden in the rain. I was going to put them in the bin and go and buy new ones but on second thoughts I would like to clean them as cannot really afford to splash out.
I am wondering what to do. I don't have one bowl or bucket to wash them in as all these have been acquired by my husband who is doing DIY round the house. I don't want to wash them in the sink at all and I don't think I will be able to get the smell out by hand washing. I am reluctant to put them in the washing machine as I wash teatowels in there. I don't know if you can put bleach in the washing machine. What would you do? Hope this isnt a lame question. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
You could put them in the washing machine with bicarb or maybe a bit of bleach, do you have a tub you could soak them in with bicarbonate of soda and some water?
Hopefully someone else will have some advice but thI'd soak them in a tub with the bicarb first.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

When my cat was very poorly last year i took my iron maiden t shirt off in the vets to put in with her so she had a familiar scent. She had a wee accident with nerves and pood all over it. It was my favourite t shirt but in the bin it went. That's where I draw the line!:p
You could of course just put them in the washing machine on their own if you really want to save them , or buy a bucket for very cheap from a pound shop? Im sure you could magic something up to soak them in before washing? Or just take a bucket from hubby - he will have to adapt and improvise.
you could always clean the washing machine after ?
ill merge this with cleaning quick qs later

In a jug mix two tablespoons biological washing powder with 3litres of hot water and stir until dissolved, leave to cool a little and add one tablespoon of bleach.
Take a bin bag outside and add the gloves, pour in the solution from the jug and give it a good whooshing, repeat the whooshing a few times if you can then leave overnight and then drain it off and chuck them in the washing machine.0 -
