Within a few hours of my placing the order I received a call from my opticians who said that they had been contacted by okvision but would not release details to them without my permission, which I gave.
I subsequently cancelled that order and reordered a few days later from daysoft and I never heard anything from my optician that time. Perhaps they took my earlier permission as a kind of blanket authority to release information to any company though, can't be sure.
I have to pay £30 annually for a CL checkup, but it is worth it in my opinion for the savings I can get buying lenses online. I don't think there is anyway around paying for a checkup if you want to buy your lenses over the internet.
Oh dear - I hope they don't contact mine! I apid £25 for a c/l check a fortnight ago (I was shocked - they've always been free wherever else I've been!) and she gave me some trial dailies to wear. I was told they'd cost £35 a month:eek: .
When I went back on Friday I told her I was going to get some from the internet at £17 (before I found this thread!) and she got all shirty with me and said I didn't have a prescription. The upshot was it would be 3 months before I could have a prescription and I'd need to buy lenses from her or she wouldn't give me the further test to give me the prescription. I ended up buying one month's worth, and have ordered the £13.98 ones to help tide me over for the 3 months. What will happen to me when she sees I've forged the script?:rotfl:C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0 -

I know it's expensive to begin with, but one person said the on-going costs are cheaper than other lenses.
I'm a high earner so it's not too much of an issue for me, but if you have any more info on the costs then please post it.
BTW - I haven't investigated right now as it's not convenient due to other commitments, but I expect to investigate in a couple of weeks.
I have actually posted some of this info on another thread I think but have an update which you may find of interest.
My 14 year old daughter (-4.40 and -3.50 eyesight) started on these orthok lenses on Friday 19th May. Today was her second day that she has not needed to wear either lenses or glasses all day and evening until she goes to bed and puts the orthok lenses back in. Pre-orthoK, she was adamant that at 18 years of age she was going to have laser surgery. I would not have wanted her to have this so young as if it does go wrong (and I know it is only a minority which do) but nevertheless, that is it, there is no going back. Whereas with orthok lenses if she stops wearing them all that will happen is that her eyesight will go back to what it was.
The cost of all this is £240 for the initial consultation (this may seem high but does include a lot of "chair time" and any amount of soft lenses needed at the beginning and, as my OH said, we have to pay for all the research that has gone before so to speak, but this initial cost can vary enormously fromarond £100 to £240 depending on your optician, and not many of them are doing these lenses yet). We pay £44 per month and for that get new lenses every six months or sooner if need, replacement lenses if lost or broken, all solutions etc. We were paying £30 a month for her lenses plus last year paid around £200 for glasses and prescription sunglasses so really no extra for us once the initial consultation money was paid.
BUT - and this is the crucial bit - the money pales into insignificance when we saw the look on daughter's face when she realised she could see without lenses or glasses for the first time since she was 4 years old. It is without doubt the best money we have ever spent. I know that we are lucky that we can afford it but I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is thinking about these lenses. Sorry for the length of this thread but if anyone needs any more information please let me know.0 -
It's actually great that I could now possibly wear dalies now even with my prescription strength. I'm normally left buying monthly and all the cleaning stuff that goes with it.
However, I've only just recently purchased a full years worth of monthlies

This is a great invention no doubt, shame it dosen't cater for the higher prescription.0 -

apparently higher prescriptions should be available fairly soon (they are up to -10 in America)and they are hopeful this will happen sooner rather than later here.0 -
What happens if Torich (monthly specsavers) use these daysofts.
Is my eyes likyly to get damaged or is it just a case that i wont see properly?0 -

I ordered some of these and they arrived this morning. All I can say is WOW!!!!! :T
I usually have -9.00 (in both eyes) Specsavers daily disposables at £22.00 per month. I put in a pair of the daysoft ones this morning and my eyesight is about ten times better!! They are the same prescription (-9.00 in both eyes) as the Specsavers ones but everything is sooo much clearer!!! I don't really understand why that is but i am really pleased. Am gonna try them out for the next month and then cancel my Specsavers ones i think.Tara the Jack Russell, gone to the bridge 5 February 2014.

Ordered some last Tues, still waiting!! However because I live in Jersey and we had a bank holiday, things may be a bit delayed.
However, cost wise they seem great. Looking forward to trying them out when I get them."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Mine arrived this morning; no comeback from the optician, so it looks as if they didn't contact her!
I'm really pleased with them and by going with the internet rather than my local optician, I'm saving over £200 a year!C'est le ton qui fait la chanson0
