Good point; I'm keeping on looking, and its not till April, so I've time.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I think the design/shape is OK, but the material is awful. I think it looks bad even on the model.
Of course now you know why no one else asks my opinion..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
Oh so its for a specific occassion?0

Yes, one of my nephews, in his early 30s, is getting married in April - she's Polish, a professional, its in London. They both earn a lot, it will be quite smart. I'm going to dress "successful" - I *will* be dying my hair finally
- but I want to look right for me as well.
This is the one I really like, I think - no, I'm not sure, but this is it:

I think that's lovely KC.
What do you think of this dress on House of Fraser and in April you could still wear opaques too if you wanted to.

Morning Karma:
Second one is definately more elegant than the first! - but yikes at £70!!!
John Lewi$ has a good return policy, so if your credit card can handle it, buy what you think you like, try them all on & return everything that doesn't make the cut! Don't hum and haw in the sales - things disappear faster than you can make a decision.
(Can you tell it's a trick I use often - lol - with M&$)
Also - have a look at Walli$ - they have lovely classy dresses and a great return policy as well.

Thanks KM! To be honest, the colour is too dark for me, and there are too many bows - I'm really too old for bows (pace Mrs Thatcher )
But its a good style, and the short length really lightens it up.
EDIT - hi RT! I know, £70 is a lot of money - but if i can wear it to half a dozen places in the next year, and then keep it in the wardrobe as a staple dressy dress, so to speak, then I reckon its done its job.
My apologies to your OH!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Lol at Margaret Thatcher but I know what you mean.0

how about something in this style (not necessarily this colour) - it's a great cut for hiding lumps and bumps - one of my fav shapes - lol - wrap around

Thats pretty nice! And I love the name as well - Damsel in a Dress, lol! You know what I've remembered? That Lula and SE have been giving me lessons on how to buy nice clothes on ebay .... I must check out what they wrote. I've just been looking at per una and monsoon on ebay - nice stuff for £20! I think I'll do it that way. And there's a very posh charity shop on the other side of my town that I can look at - I'm *not* going to succumb to sales fever!
Offline now to get some lunch - thanks for keeping me company in my search, people, I find this stuff really difficult, it helps to have some other voices in there.
