Okay! I give in, I'll give the tree its own album on photobucket - I bought this year's ornaments in Wilkinsons last weekend, actually - a 3D white cat with a Christmas hat on, and a big golden acorn - I've never seen as many oak trees in a town as they have here, its amazing, I was crunching acorns underfoot for weeks.
I'm a bit concerned about the effect of the weather on my tree - its cut now, and its been throwing it down today - still, I suppose trees often get wet, don't they
The builder and the plumber are both returning tomorrow for finishing jobs. Spoke to the floor layer and thats still on for Sunday. My sister is coming along (on my birthday!!!) to take some rubbish to the tip for me - weather permitting, and she's been ill this week, so that might not happen, actually. And when I finished work, I felt fairly energetic, and couldn't *bear* the thought of just being inside all evening, so went to Sainsbury and did some shopping - finished the foodie presents, replaced some supplements for me, bought a proper *single* quilt.
Moneysaving reports:
- used a £2 till spit for the quilt :j, and it was one third off anyway, so came to £9.18 or something
- bought a 2 pint *bag* of milk for 80p, will freeze it in little portions in a fairycake tray, and stick the portions into a freezer bag together - Pippi gave me this idea :j
- big bunch of bananas for 20p
kilo of varied organic veg going yellow stickered - price 30p
- supplements had 3 for 2 on.
Quite pleased with that haul!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
great bargains that..never seen milk in a bag before.0

Weird, isn't it - it says that Sainsbo themselves recycle the bags, which is much better than milk cartons - they still can't be recycled, as far as I know, cos they're composite.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Milk in a bag, sounds like a good idea. the same sort of thing that's inside wine boxes? I have a vague recollection of something like that on holiday, but I may have got that wrong, I often do :-) Like the idea of freezing portions, that may be the way forward for me, as a pint of milk lasts me all week.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

If it was asleep when you cut it down then it will be fine - it will be slumbering oblivious to the weather

20 for bananas - blimely well done you on all the bargains and for thinking to freeze up the milk in managable portions - go you!
I got milk yesterday not as many bargains as you! (posh stuff that I'd not never buy at 10p) and I worried about the top of it busting through so I decanted some of it into another botte from all three I bought - kids thought I was daft - but when they've milk on their cornflakes when we're snowed in - they'll like me then!

thinkit's good when firms reduce packaging but vey annoying if it isn't recyclable.0

This portion thing is good, isn't it! Before I use the ice cube trays as Z suggested on Pippi's thread, tho, I need to check if I can put them in plastic bags, being as they're on the handles of the freezer trays ... life is never truly simple, is it!
Your haul is good, Pippi - I'm pleased with mine too, tho I must do those veg tomorrow - I'm so tired right now, I've just done the census jobs questionnaires - no idea if I've got them right, but I don't care right nowHowever "
If it was asleep when you cut it down then it will be fine - it will be slumbering oblivious to the weather" this is about the tree - I cut it down yesterday - but it had buds on already, small ones but they were there. No leaves tho.
Taxi - the bag *is* recyclable - its the generality of milk packaging that isn't. Of course, it was completely reuseable, even better, when we had milk bottles - not all change is good!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
i would rather have glass milk bottles as well0
