This is interesting about pensions..do me and my DH have to nominate each other to get any of the pension should something happen to the other? I thought we would each be entitled to the others pension somehow! How niave :o

I think you're ok if you're married or in a civil partnership, but its worth checking out. As I said, the law has changed, but its a bit of a minefield with different providers having different rules.

sounds like a whole can of worms this pension business.I hate the way the government screws the ones that pay tax and NI all their lives and put money by in order to aid the !!!!less and ignore the tax payers.
have you seen the new rules on contribution based ESA and savings coming in plus the fact it will be time limited...people have paid tax and insurance for that and savings were not took into account previously.
but people who are on non contributary means tested get to keep it.

when they bring the new rules in I'll not get any esa money as DH works..even though I've paid stamps in my own right.

time to stash the cash I think

The government will try to drain the value of your cash through inflation. Be on the lookout for that.

The reason the government is taking money from those that work, is that they are the only people with money to take. They give to the feckless to buy votes. It's time honoured and traditional - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses

Tee hee .... I confess, I know absolutely nothing about ESA - I don't even know what the initials stand for :o:eek: I can see that when I make all this money :D I'm going to have some serious research to do.

Today, however - as I've just been wittering about on Hypno's thread, I need to start getting a few things from boxes - I can see it not happening until December 23rd if I don't do it [strike] now [/strike] soon. And I need to go out for a walk, to get some fresh air. And if I do anything on the computer, it has to be the travel bits of my accounts.

And otherwise I'll watch the Angel DVDs I just had delivered from ebay - the one that was £4.20 for the whole season, in a slimline box :D
