I'm not *sure* you can use them for carpets, but the logistics must work, and I'll try it out on a piece of carpet that isn't too visible first :)

Thanks for the luck - its a process, thats for sure!

I've just ordered a new laptop  this one is crazy slow, its so full, and thats not good enough for the computerised career options :D couldn't get quidco on it, something about BT and Sainsbury having problems, but I got *lots* nectar points, a specific delivery day and time, and a pretty new laptop with an i3 chip :j for about £25 over what I wanted to pay, so I'm really happy :j:j:j

And hungry ... wanted to play around the diaries, but I won't be able to concentrate, so brb..........

Hi Lula, I didn't see your post. Thats a *really* good point, actually - I'm stopping now for a snack and a rest, and I'll try to have a little walk then. I say *try*, because we're having deluges here, after which its sunny blue skies, very odd mix - but I need a rest before I go.

The laptop order - I had to miss out on quidco, but at least I got the nectar points, and at least its going to be here on Tuesday - plus the i3 processor, which was important to me.

    Life is good.

It is, isn't it! And you're right - the things I've been able to do through the laptop have created thousands of pounds of extra income over the years.

Now. I just need the trading to create £100,000 a year for the next ten years (or £200,000 a year for the five years, I'm not fussy) and I'll be all set! Thats my pension fund, btw.

Immediately after I posted that, I went to look for annuity calculators .... and for "only" £500,000 I could get an annuity of £14,000 p.a. with a 3% increase p.a. .... thats very interesting :D

I certainly want to stash lots of cash :D the thing with a pension is that they keep the money after you die :( I guess thats why the return is comparatively higher than an ISA or something. But seeing as I don't have any kids myself, I can't be too focussed on that - I dislike it, but there you go.

The thing that used to wind me up about pensions was that if I died in service while my son was a child, he would get a childrens pension, but if he was over 18, he got nothing. And as a single parent, there was no spouse to get a pension either, so the money just went back into the fund. The law has changed now and you can nominate someone, but it used to drive me mad.

I'm with Taxi, I like cash. My plan would be to be 'off grid' in terms of finances etc. not use debit cards if I could help it, so not leave an electronic trail everywhere. Maybe I'd have to go and live somewhere a bit more remote than Liverpool to achieve it though!

  • This is interesting about pensions..do me and my DH have to nominate each other to get any of the pension should something happen to the other? I thought we would each be entitled to the others pension somehow! How niave :o
