:o You're right, I've been a bit naughty there - it was in my diary to do 2 weeks ago, and I left it and left it. However, I *have* worked at it - turns out the best buy is probably Scottish Power's Online Energy Saver - I ran the search with a few alternatives, and tho I couldn't make the website say exactly what my useage is, that one consistently came out on top, so after I've had a cup of tea, I'll do the switcheroo.

I've also been looking at Fay's French student' piccies of life in the Orkneys, and there's a single photo of Fay on there - and of course, she's really pretty!

EDIT - oh yeah, and the place is absolutely great - but there's a note on there in French about how rare the sunshine is :)

Been back to Scottish Power - the exact title I got from energyhelpline's mse link "Scottish Power Energy Saver 7" isn't available at the Scottish Power website  these things are never easy! I was very tempted to leave it, since the saving is minimal, but it *is* a saving, so I'm going to the next name I trust, Southern Electric, which will give me the cashback and seems to have an extra saving not in the list....... we'll see.

:hello: I wonder where I posted my update? Oh, maybe on the fuel board........ anyway, I phoned them on an 0800 number, I can switch, but its capped to variable, so I'm going to have a look at fuel prices...........I might stay capped, actually, its 3% extra, but fuel price rises are going to be more than that this winter, surely?

And I'm logged in at you-know-where :rotfl:and the kettle's on........

KC I dunno if its any help I am on scottish power online saver tariff - ? Switched online last year. 'Discounted Energy online NSC' package

I get a discount for managing it all online, no standing charge dual rate 14.65p (first 225 units a quarter) then 10.74p though.................and they upped the disount earlier in the month?

And are offering a 5% discount (dunno if thats as well as or including the 4% already offered) if you pay in advance - am looking into that one myself

We are heavy users £1020pa - so its about the best one I found for me.....(happy if anyone has a better idea though....)
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:

Thanks for that, Fay. I just got out of my work, and switched the laptop back on. I was looking at that no standing charge thing - you pay a higher rate for the first 225Wh of electricity and the first 1143Wh of gas. For a heavy user, I'd imagine that that works out cheaper. For me, on my ownio and still counting as a light user even tho I work from home, I'm not sure its profitable. What I'll have to do is log in to my account there, and check out the unit prices and what I actually use. I've kept a note of my meter readings (tho I haven't read them on a standard day) and I don't know what unit the meters are using - but in approx 6 months (8.3.09 to 12.9.09) I used 691 units of electricity and 65 units of gas. I think that makes me a light user! Can't deal with it till I've had something to eat  thats me all over! But I will. Thanks again!

  • That reminds me KC, when i was in my local library today they were letting folk loan energy monitors for free.:beer:So we can all work out electricity usage for the day then week.:D

You can borrow them for a week and then you pay £1 if longer than a week. Pretty good eh?:money:
