Karma if you are having/willing to wait that long extra to move because of their issues then I am sure you dictate a date that suits you better ie the day after/week after etc..if you want to go to that show then you can surely?0

You're right, I know you are.... the show is 19th - 22nd August, Thursday to Sunday, and they want to move on the Friday, the 20th. I've already suggested the 18th, which would mean they'd have to move out of one property and into another on the same day - and hey presto, this is the real world, thats what most of us have to do! We'll see. Even if it does happen that way, I'm not sure I want to go to the show two days after moving in, with a journey up and down the country to boot, I *really* won't be able to relax then. I think I'd rather miss it this year.
The other thing is, she sprung on me that she wants to come down and help me when I'm moving in  so I might see her just after that weekend anyway. She did it when I moved in here - but she's 84 now, for heaven's sakes, she can do maybe a couple of hours and has to sleep then. I know she means well, but frankly its distracting.... aha! I have a cunning plan! I could ask her to come down after a month or so. She doesn't mean to make stress for me, she wants to help, but thats not whats happening. Sigh ..........2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I think you have the right to dictate the date after they messed up. You have made and "paid for" other arrangements on the basis that you were moving in July.
Don't give in to them. Plus if you are going to the flower show then you can use that trip to put your mum off too!0 -
Hi KC sorry Ive been missing again, just busy so all ok. Sorry the move has been put back and hopefully you wont miss the flower show that would be a real shame. Re the arthritis I think thats what I have in my wrists but havent been to docs yet!!! I heard on the radio that it may relate to tea drinking ( hope not as I drink tons of tea). Not sure if it yet though someone said it could be carpel tunnel so when I pluck up courage I will mention it to the doc. I get a bigger baby the older I get lol:rotfl:

Hi folks - I don't know what I want to do about the flower show vs. moving, but my instinct is that I don't want to go to it if its only a couple of days after I move in.... I'll see. Thanks for your feedback, Pippajo.
Hi Turfy! I know that feeling about being worried about going to see the doc .... since late last night, I'm *now* worried about skin cancer - I'm sure the advice is that if the top comes off a mole, you need to go see someone .... and thats what just happened. I'm falling to pieces, I suppose. Well, it comes with the territory.
I've just been doing my to-do list for today, erm, its got a bit long. Everything from health issues to money issues to moving issues to packing issues. Oh, and inputting a mystery shop. Can't forget that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KC please go and DR straight away with that...if it isn't skin cancer...great and one less worry and if it is then quicker treatment..please do not put it off...
Why don't you agree a date the fri after the flower show(if you want to go that is)0 -
Hugs.. I'm sure you're not falling apart! Re the move, I'd be tempted to say they can move in after the show - a nice relaxing day out would be good before you have to get stuck into moving.. although I'm not sure if having to have everything ready before the show (to make the day out stress-free-ish) would feel like too much pressure?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Hiya - thanks for the hugs! I've just been looking at the "symptoms" pages of cancerhelp.org.uk, and they're talking about stuff not healing after 4 weeks, which is quite a long time. I'll get some mirrors set up and have a looksee ...
About the show, if it was just a question of a day out, no problem - but its a six hour journey home each way, and *at least* 3 days there, as I haven't been since last September with the winter illnesses... I would've done 5 days away for the July holiday in Norfolk, thats been booked for a long time now. But to put myself in that position when its so easily avoidable.... I just don't want it. I've been to flower shows before, and I'll go again, even tho I've never been to the Southport one. I don't mind the trip home within 2 or 3 weeks of the move, but within 2 or 3 days is a bit much.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ahh I thought it was just a day thing - in that case, I would go for the path of least stress!
As Taxi says, if the mole is worrying you, then it can't hurt to let the doc have a look.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
