Right, a definite stamping of the foot ..... just been out to water the little plants - it was a soggy day here yesterday, sort of not-quite-drizzle all day, and they don't need it. But I have made a VOW: the next time we've had a good windy day, or a downpour, I am *attacking* the back - the air is full of spiders and their webs, I'm checking every step I walk to about ten feet off the ground, its crazy - the place is going to be decimated. I used to want it as a kind of nature reserve, but if it means I don't even like going into the garden, then s*d it, I don't want it. Everything near the seating area and the paths is going to get chopped back sharpish. I'm going to go back to digging that shaded seating area - I could have used it for a few weeks this year. And they say a good garden adds 10% to a sale price - well, that back garden could *cost* me 10% Enough is enough. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Nooooo! I'm not going out there till the weather is definitely on my side, with gales or heavy-ish rain. Wol, what we can do to help me with my campaign on my house is to go round it and suggest what I might do, if I decide to be the one who does the renovation - i.e. apart from things like "rewire", "replumb"..... I have some ideas, but all thoughts are welcome.
I've been out in the front chopping up twigs to go in the ordinary rubbish - I'll be sawing some branches to go in the bottom bit and be hidden by the ordinary garbage later. The council recycling team came by while I was out there, and definitely did take all my shredded paper that I re-discovered in the garage last week. Plus all the leftover cardboard, and ordinary up to date stuff from the house. I think I'll go admire my garageyou realise I'm planning on showing off my garage to you, Wol? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just did that hour's paid work .... I was going to take my time getting back on the free bingo, but thought I'd be disciplined and go for it - and hey presto, I won a tenner! Reminds me of that saying ... "the harder I work, the luckier I get", tho I'll never be in Hypno's league.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well done on the win...
I promise to turn my yard into a garden next year...and maybe grow some veg..well that's the idea...0 -
Thanks both! I love the sound of self sufficiency and growing your own. But I'm incredibly soppy with it - e.g. pulling plants up kills them. Quite often, when I have to prune a branch, or dig up a weed, I talk to the archetypal buddleia or herb robert or whatever, and tell them why ..... unfortunately, I'm not joking  Its only nowadays, after years of having a crappy garden I can't actually use, that I'm getting past that. Plus the arthritis in my fingers hurts when I do more than ten minutes.... and the plot is difficult, even tho there's *steep* terracing, there's very little level earth anywhere.
So, Fay, you're very welcome when I win the premium bonds!
I have a half built little veg bed on the first main layer of the back garden - haven't been up there for 3 months, *no* idea how overgrown it is. I have to get the mortar out soon to do some repairs on that retaining wall before winter, so I might take the chance to actually do that, and grow some stuff next year.
Today's a London day, tho I don't have too much work up there - I'm taking stuff to do so I'm not twiddling my thumbs.
I'll be around for a little while yet - hope everyone's going to have a good one!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
