Disagree, I'm not keen on them (and they drive badly) but at least it looks different from the usual run of the mill boring bland stuff pumped out these days bu most of the manufacturers.

Better not mentiona any or jeannie will give me another lashing!

Joey the issue is the idiots that think they can us max accelaration down/up the slipway, and there will allways be a gap for them to fit into.

The actual purpose of the long slip road is to enable the joining vehicle to achieve a speed where he can blend into traffic not as some do hit 70 indicate then panic brake. That speed may be 70 but mat have to be 50.

Yes most of us I'm certain given a clear 2nd lane will move over, I do it automatically if there's nothing close behind with some sweeping slipways as it's not alway easy to see whats joining. But in todays traffic you are less likely to be able to move or radically change speed without danger to others. Some people gorget it's their responsibility to give way when joining?

And of cause there is the "they shalt not pass" idiot, who wouldn't make life easier for the other driver if they were the only 2 cars on the motorway:rolleyes::rolleyes::T

Whilst we're on the topic of motorway slip roads can I nominate people who join motorways too slowly and/or using the incorrect slip lanes:

    (1) It's not rocket science to figure that a reasonable speed to join a motorway is at to join it at least at the speed of the users in Lane 1 - around 50-60mph. So why join it at 40mph and cause HGVs to pull out in front of other road users already on the motorway? If you hadn't been so busy chatting to your passengers then you'd realise that you were doing 40.

    (2) If there are two slip lanes, and you are a slow driver, then why join in the right hand slip lane (whilst driving at 40mph) into motorway traffic, when you could stay in the left hand slip lane which becomes a dedicated motorway lane.

PEOPLE WHO DON'T GO WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN!
I'm sure if you add all those seconds up....
There's even an amber to alert you that you have to go!
    Do I sound angry?
No, they're not the worst but they haven't been mentioned yet.
Another one is the people who park at the pumps but aren't getting any fuel, because the parking spaces are round the corner and they might have to walk further or reverse or something.
There are plenty of things in this thread that wind me up but I'd better not go into it all. But how many of the problems would be solved if drivers just, you know, PAY ATTENTION!

Joining the motorway. When you join the motorway you will normally approach it from a road on the left (a slip road) or from an adjoining motorway. You should
    • give priority to traffic already on the motorway
    • check the traffic on the motorway and match your speed to fit safely into the traffic flow in the left-hand lane
    • not cross solid white lines that separate lanes or use the hard shoulder
    • stay on the slip road if it continues as an extra lane on the motorway
    • remain in the left-hand lane long enough to adjust to the speed of traffic before considering overtaking

You actually own a copy of that. Congratulations but many parts of it are great on paper, useless in practise.

Try sticking to it and watch how many people almost crash into your car when joining the motorway as you smuggly drive along in the slow lane refusing to give way. (By the way I know it is not actually called the slow lane).

The majority of drivers use common sense and give way to cars coming onto the motorway or pull into the middle lane.

    A question please - isn't the maximum speed on a slipway 60mph?

How are people suppossed to get on the motorway then. I either give way or move into the other lanes.

What gets on my nerves is wallys who pull out in front of you when you are driving and then drive down the road at 2 mph.

FOR !!!!S SAKE READ WHAT I HAVE JUST POSTED:mad::mad::mad:

You asked how to get onto a motorway, I tried to help.

The highway code is avaliable online, I dont actually own it.

No one would crash into my car, they will join the motorway (or slam on their brakes if they dont know how to join a motorway correctly).

I would move over if it was safe to do so. I would never "give way".

AGAIN FOR !!!!S SAKE YOU CANNOT ALLWAYS GIVE WAY , YOU WILL HAVE A JUGGERNAUT UP YOUR !!!!. THE HIGHWAY CADE REQUIRES ENTERING MOTORISTS TO GIVE WAY BECAUSE OF THIS. YOU NEED TO RESIT YOUR THEORY TEST:mad::mad::mad:
