One very quick piece of feedback, I'm getting a load of blank pages in some categories, not 'empty' but totally blank. It's difficult to say anymore at the moment as I can't see anything at all listed.

They havn't got many items listed yet. Found a few under Clothing & Accessories, mainly under the Womens categorie.
I don't really have anything to sell at the moment but I'll keep an eye on the site, it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Yes some of you guys are correct only a small number of items so far, Its only a new site its aimed at people who need to sell their items to buyers for cash without having to pay any fee's. lts really up to you guys to get posting your stuff to make it work. The site itself has only been online since March and we are link building at the moment to get the ranking higher and seo optimization will follow shortly, updates are issued monthly and new and better features are added all the time. If something seems not quite right for some reason or another email me at admin@niauctionmart.com. We are funding this venture of our own backs and we have put a lot of hard work and cash in so far and alot of late ones with the script ( thanks to Andrew our programmer ). So give us a help out to help those out who need it the most. l would also like to thank Martin and Andrea for letting us post on the site.

Can I also please ask the obvious question, why?

There has obviously been a lot of time and money invested in the site already but are you looking to aim at a niche market, or just take on everyone. As I'm sure you know there are dozens of small auction sites out there, you even advertise one in a banner on your site, where has your research shown you will be able to perform better than them?

I know this is a really daft question, but the economics of it is interesting to me. There are auction sites that have been going almost as long as ebay (try Friday auctions) that now are basically just a shell and we get probably two new auction sites a year 'formally' launched on here only to disappear in a few months.

If you have a unique point (and free isn't actually unique) then my suggestion would be to highlight that aspect to sell yourselves. Don't sell yourself as being the same as others, sell yourself as being different.

Well said soolin. I was going to point that out as well, I study business and trying to say that you have the same qualities as other businesses/rivals is'nt going to do you any good, you need a USP. Hopefully, you do well.

hi guys thanks for posting, The privacy policy is only days away and your information is never forwarded on to 3rd partys. take a look soon. thanks to all who have joined so far few problems with emails but nothing we cant sort out. As l said its only a new site and it will take change over time, its free to use and no final fees are added. yes l totaly agree with what you say about its not a new thing, but we are planning in hanging around with this site for a real long time. lts really for targeted u.k users, who dont want to pay for silly fees,like you have to on other sites. We are promoting the site all the time and after a while it will get better known and more use will follow.

OK, since you are promoting your site here, here's some open feedback for you..

1) As the other posters have said: why?

2) The site looks very amatuerish as the text is all over the place and it is a bit of a mess. The ad placements are really in your face.

3) Your site is Northern Ireland Auctions. What does that mean for non-NI ppl?

4) No secure https server? Is that true for payments too?

5) It is not strictly free as you have to pay for listing upgrades

6) A "coming soon" privacy policy is not really ideal.

7) Do you have an advertising strategy apart from MSE?

8) You say you've invested money in the venture but short of purchasing a domain name (£10?), a webhosting package with your provider (£20pm?), an auction script (£50?) and some home made templating (£0?), anyone can make an auction site at the drop of a hat so what makes you think you stand out from everyone else?

Don't get me wrong, I wish you all the luck but creating yet another auction site may not be such a good idea. And if each one can get some free publicity on MSE then the crowd will get bigger.
