Its nice to see that you're reacting positively to the comments being made. Many people would have run scared after reading all these 'harsh' posts regarding your website but you have done well to keep calm and view the criticism as constructive, so I respect you for that.
I would really love it to all go well for you, and maybe Northern Ireland need a free auction site...I'm not sure but beware that you're entering a crowded market, basically monopolised by eBay.Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -
Hi, l have had a lot of responses from my last thread and thanks to everyone who replied and helped out. - But in order to get off the subject of the "what do you think of the site “ l would like to start this thread with "what would you suggest” as this is what l really needed. l would like you have your own say on your own way of making it a unique selling point and what you would like the site to have included to make it your choice of online auction.
Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.

Not sure if this needed a new thread.
Anyway, for starters I would suggest a redesign, invest in a quality web developer, not just a 'dabbler' who can do it cheaply. This looks very much like a simple generic auction script which has been played with. I hate to be blunt but it looks very 'home made'. Its going to be hard enough as it is making any sort of go of it. If it doesnt look professional then you've fallen at the first hurdle, people wont trust or take notice of a non professional looking site. Theres a thousand and one other worries with the idea, many have been already mentioned but if your serious about this venture then start with the simple 'look' of the thing. Also the name 'niauctionmart.com' is hardly catchy or interesting, prehaps aim for something with a bit of zest, zing and remembrance factor.
Finally, I suspect you might be another ambitous youngster with a business idea, hoping to hit the jackpot with a half hearted website idea/launch. Be realistic, thousands of websites launch and fail each week, and the odds are stacked against you here. An ambtious project like this is going to need 100% focus and concentraton, you need to decide if your honestly prepared to do everything thats needed, also be prepared that you could lose a lot of money and time better spent elsewhere. Take points on board and work towards offering something unqiue, interesting which people will want to use. Again, its best to start small, aim at a niche and build on it. After these points are looked at, I would possible suggest contacting some business angels and venture capitalists. You cant make a go of this with a few forum ads, its going to need real promotion.
Good luck.

Having had a look at the site - (after all - I may have been interested in bidding on an item) - I found an anomaly in the bidding set up. An item had no bids on it (as did all the other items!) but I would not have been able to bid the starting bid price - I had to bid above it.
(ie: item starting bid @ £0.99 - I could only bid @ £1.09)
Surely the first person to bid should be able to bid at the opening price as stated by the Seller.
Hope this makes sense. see HERE for clarification.

Is it a uk site? Just check is spelled incorrectly, it should be cheque.
Just a little thing I know, but 'americanisms' can upset alot of people, also the date is non uk, so I'm guessing it is not aimed at the Uk specifically.
Also, I also find the start price and minimum price very cofusing, I looked at an item that looked like it was for 99p but was 1.09 really - can you explain the reasoning behind this?
You also say it is free but if you join you get 5 pound in your account, is this just a sweetner to get people to join, and isn't then going to be taken back for fees/have to be spent on an item?
What's your customer support like if an item is not received?
And why is item location not filled in?
Not knocking your site just a few things that don't sit easy with me for me to go ahead and use it.Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10

Just noticed postage bit as well - it doesn't tell you whether it's first or second class or anything, also you need an insurance section.
You may also want to read up about Buy it now feature and ebay, they may be getting sued for using that from another company.Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10
