Hi Steve,
I have merged the two threads about your site together, as the earlier thread was still active on the front page.
I hope that this hasn't caused any confusion and I appreciate that you have been given consent to post details about your site by the MSe forum team.
I think it may help to keep the discussion about the site to one single thread.
Best wishes. Jo.

Spelling is vitally important. If I see words misspelled on a site's homepage, it puts me right off. This applies on eBay too. No matter how much I might want an item, if the seller's spelling (and grammar) are terrible, I will not bid.'Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy'.

Got to agree with everyone else, its VITAL you make your product stand out from the competitors.
I was just recently watching a documentary on how coca cola became the global brand it is and they struggled initally but the key was they offered a unique taste product which they advertised by offering free vouchers and QUALITY adverts and they carried on improving the product design overs the years. You need to be doing something along that lines.
I would therefore suggest:
1. you select a certain category items to host(for now): say collectable items. Need to do a bit of market research first.
2. Make sure the web site is designed to a high standard before you even bother advertising. Ist impressions count alot when your starting up. It needs to look proffesionally done.
3. Dont do it for free but offer free listings days or free to new or loyal customers.
4. Avoid using too many adverts. If possible find companies which may benefit benefit from your site and try to negotate some sought of agreement which will benefit both parties.
5. Try to use a good name for your site. One way of possibly finding a good name is to arrange a competiton on forums.
You need to be know who you are trying to attract and who your competitors are and offer something they dont offer and AT THE LEAST to the standards they are offering if not better.0 -
