The free £5 is for featured selling only, you are in no-way needed to use this only if you want your item to be top placed in the cat you are selling in.
In the next few months the featured sellers items will appear on the home page with a picture in a four block rotational sequence - so hold on to it until you really need it.

Seeing as you are requesting personal info when people register, you should be aware that you legally HAVE to have one under the Data Protection Act. This should include any info on use of cookies on the site, and exactly what you use any personal info submitted for.
Have a look HERE for a quick explanation of your obligations under this act.
I refer you back to this point. "It's on it's way" isn't good enough.
You are breaking the law without it, and I would advise that people do not sign up until there is a clear and comprehensive policy in place. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -

I'll elaborate a bit on why I feel so let down by the response we've had since a few people pointed out some downsides.
It was Soolins posts that struck me the most. She questioned why are we seeing a new site? She asked, very well, why is this any different?
Then she pointed out (with a couple of very good examples), why just being free doesn't seem to work. Not only this, she then went on to suggest a possible way forward (i.e. specialist items), that the site may stand out from all the others that have tried (and failed dismally) to take on Ebay.
The answer to her very well put points was 'we all make mistakes' and 'we are free if you want to use us'. This was an incredibly empty answer! It made it look (certainly in my eyes), that the OP didn't have a clue what they are doing.
I've lost count of the amount of new auction sites that have tried to launch themselves with the premise of 'why pay fees to other auction sites (they mean Ebay), when you can use us for free'. I challenge anyone to name just one that this has worked for. Normally they just fade into the background, while Ebay continues to be one of the biggest growing companies in the UK (10+ million UK members, and still growing by the day).
This is why I think the sites owners should go back to the drawing board (and take on board the comments that have been made in this thread). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
