Glam, why are you worried about the waking/feeding, if you don't mind me asking? Did you think it would be more of a routine?

hello everyone! have tried to catch up but i have no energy left, my voice is going and im feeling awful:( everyone at work was great today they are all on a house hunt for me! the guy that does the fuit and veg box deliveries said he will have an extra drive around! i could have cried at how nice they all were! they all laughed at my bird incident this morning!

oh and we are having a barn dance on sunday! its a free open weekend at work with bouncy castle, face painting and loads of activities. once that is done its bring your own booze and a dance! im really looking forward to it but OH doesnt seem too keen!

hope everyone is ok and ill try to keep up! might not be on much the next while as i really need to start ebaying and packing xxxx
What's for you won't go past you
  • Glam - Yep. That's how my mum did it, and my sis for her 3.
Tara - because the door get opened it's not as cold as the actual inside of the fridge.

My MW advised to boil the water and keep the water in the fridge - again, she said not in the door - and add the powder when needed - but the powder is supposed to be added to water over 70 degree to ensure it is sterile, but I wouldn't heat the water to that temp so I figured the other way is safer. The powder is going into v. hot water to kill the nasties, and being kept in a sterile bottle in the fridge, so not chance for nasties to form :D

Glam - it will get easier - honest :)

The door is less cool and the temperature fluctuates more than in any other area of the fridge due to you opening and closing the door Tara.

Glam, if you listened to everything you can't do, most babies born up till now would have all died with some horrible but vague disease or something (why is it that milk powder is bad again?). My boys would have gotten it as I made up bottles of water and just kept them at room temp for 24 hours and added the powder as needed (as I was told at the time) and my neice who was given bottles of milk that had been stored in the fridge and heated up...

Feeding - the hospital said he needed to feed every 3-4hrs because of the jaundice and because he was taking such small feeds. The problem I have is I can't wake him up to take the feeds that often so I worried that he wasn't getting enough. He was only taking 20mls at a time and I was struggling to get him to take more than 4 feeds a day. They say he need 300mls a day.

Waking - I think I just expected him to be awake more.

Today, he went a long time between morning and lunchtime feeds but then had a feed at 3pm and another one at 5pm so I guess he will let me know when he's hungry!

I think that because he had so little in the first 2 days because my boobs are crap I worry that he doesn't get enough.

I'm over that now I think - now I've worrying about making up formula!!!
