:hello:Weezl- am I right in thinking this is only a short term arrangement? If so I'd be inclined to get something for your Mum as a thank you rather than pay a 'daily rate'. Maybe a spa voucher or something else luxurious?:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

What did people think was a good rate for granny having fergie per day? I was thinking £30. Too much? Too little?
Would appreciate any suggestions
My parents have Charlotte 3-5 mornings a week and give her lunch, but refuse to take any payment for it. Mam buys all the nappies, wipes etc., that get used in their house too.
I bought Charlotte a Wispa Gold today. What a mess! She managed to get it all over her face and handsHere I go again on my own....0 -

Thanks Feely,:A
She will pretend to listen attentively to what I think should happen over the next few hours, and then politely disregard it! :rotfl:
Probably more like 'fun nanny' time, but I'd rather pay her the going rate for following our ideas for fergie, and then I won't feel wrong for trying to assert that IYSWIM?

How's Maddy? Did you come to a definite answer on if she had the lactose-thingy?
She's a different baby now, I'm 100% sure it was what she had, as I've followed recommendations and it's gone, with no help from HV though!
And we had 8hrs again last night :j, I'm sooo lucky. X
Weezl, nursery is around £30 per day so it's about right.
Sorry, will keep popping on and off as I'm doing the negotiations between kids and OH!!!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
Thats my opinion - if you want her to do it your way, pay the going rate. £30 is the right sort of rate I'd say. I don't think you can be fussy about rules and routines if it is just a favour.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

My Mum regularly takes Aimee on a Saturday night, brings her back on a Sunday and I tell her she's lucky she gets to spend so much time with her!
As suggested, I'd more likely go down the gift route than money... Unless I thought she really needed the money...
Hope your spuds roast quickly Bruno!
And Luce, I know what you mean, my Mum had Aimee for us last year when we went on honeymoon... She had her for 5 nights and bought her to join us for the 6th... I missed her like crazy!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Hello ladies & gents,
Popping over from the PG thread with a question for you more experienced mums and dads!
Due to a burst pipe, we got our living room carpet replaced (light beige/stone colour) on insurance a couple of months ago. We couldn’t afford to replace it again ourselves as the house is open plan so it goes through to dining room, up the stairs and the top of the landing etc. DH is very concerned about having a baby which is going to pooh and puke everywhere. He has been speaking to his colleagues at work who have warned him about projectile vomiting on the carpets etc.
What is your experience of this? Do babies tend to get pooh/sick everywhere randomly? DH thinks it would be a good idea to buy a cheapish rug to put down in the main part of the living room so that we can clean it, but if it gets too bad, at least the carpet isn’t ruined.
Does anyone else use anything like this?
Do you think it’s necessary?
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. Hope to join you all very very soon and get to know you all better.0 -

Honestly don't know, weezl.. When we get to thinking about me going back to work the plan is for my mum to look after Rhys for 2-3 days a week (if my part-time working request is accepted) but she's already said she won't accept any money for it, so it's not an issue we've had to think much about. Mum just said that we'd need to provide Rhys' food cos her days of pureeing are long gone, but she would be able to cope with mashing bananas!
OH and I agreed we would put £10-30 a week away as and when we could then when we've got enough for a treat saved up then pay for something like a beauty treatment for mum or a weekend away for both mum and dad etc0
