Thank you :) I love photography, it's part of what I used to do, I had a little company doing web design.

I've been meaning to mention it to you all actually, cos you might find it useful. Basically I can do photo-retouching, so if you have a photo of your LOs which you love but has a blemish on it-sleepy dust, bit of food, red eye that kinda thing, I'm really up for working on them for you for gifts for people.

I even replaced my neices gappy front tooth in a picture for her grandparents for christmas :)

Hi Weezl. I may take you up on that offer but for mine and DH's weddings pics rather than pics of Caitlin :D. We're currently taking our wedding photographer to court as he (over 13 months later) still hasn't given us our wedding album . We have a DVD of the pics he took though, so can make up our own album if we have to, but there are a few pics that I'd like altering slightly. Obviously, we could come to some agreement...;)

Does anyone have any advice/recommendations/know of any good deals on nightlights? We're thinking of getting one as Alice has often been asking us not to shut the door when we put her to bed and when we left the door ajar she got upset when we turned the landing light off so we thought that maybe it was the light which was the issue. I suspect one that plugs into the socket might result in playing as she likes to switch the sockets anyway (because when you switch them on, letters appear and she's a bit obsessed with letters) so wondered about something like this but don't really want to pay so much especially since it might not be the issue anyway.

    Any opinions, suggestions ideas etc.?

Susan, we've got this one from John Lewis. It's about the same price as the one you linked to but we really like it. Caitlin is a lot younger that Alice, so we use it for different purposes (we have it on really dim to change a nappy in the night or if we can't find her dummy in the cot) but we really like it.

Alternatively, if you find one that plugs into a socket, you could maybe get one of these to stop Alice from switching it on and off. You might be able to get one cheaper elsewhere (Ebay?) as this is just the first site I found them on.

  • Afternoon all... back from Staffordshire now. Has been an eventful few days. Izzy developed a fever on the way up and seemed to be teething. Didn't want to feed, wouldn't go to sleep when we got there, except while being cuddled (I ended up sleeping on the sofa with her. Don't tell the HV!), so the travel cot ended up being completely pointless ;) We used a combination of calpol, teething powders, and (as a last resort) teething gel.

Lots of dribbling and moaning. Saturday she was still very unhappy, but cheered up (and cooled down) in the afternoon after some sleep, so we did manage to actually go see my Granny, which was the object of the exercise!

Saturday night was better - she fed then slept in the cot for a few hours, but when she woke up again at 11, she wouldn't feed, and ended up in bed with me, where we both cat napped - I woke up every time she did, and every time she cried in her sleep :( Also noticed yesterday she had a rash in her nappy - put it down to heat rash.

Still wouldn't feed (fine with food, but not with milk) this morning, but temperature has gone. Was still a bit grumpy, but has been ok most of the way home. I however have been increasingly grumpy and ready to explode, due to lack of feeding, so I ended up expressing by hand into a doidy cup in the loo at a service station. (Feelie and Elle, you would be proud of me ;). I'd never done it before, so I'm not sure if I was going about it the right way, but it seemed to work, and I got about 100ml or so, which isn't bad. Could have got more, but we wanted to get home really, and I didn't want to be in there all day.

Then DH noticed that the rahsh is spreading down her legs - we think she might have chicken pox, so she might not be starting nursery tomorrow after all. Trip to the doctors in the morning I think ;0)

Now I'm just waiting for the steraliser to finish so I can get the pump out. It's going to be a real struggle getting her down to sleep tonight if she still won't feed.

Krystal am I right that refusing the breast might be teething?

What kind of meals are staples in you lots houses anyways if you don't mind? I read the OS board for inspiration but sometimes I don't know what half the food is and when someone writes something like chicken pasta bake.....I don't know what's in it beside chicken and pasta - me = clueless!

I mealplan for the month and make use of all the BOGOFs and yellow stickers (when I can find them). e.g. because Sept's meals are all planned, when I'm shopping in Sept, I will pick up any bargains I spot when shopping then will incorporate them into Oct's meal plan.

I try a couple of new recipes most months. New recipes this month have been:
Creamy oven-baked chicken with garlic potatoes. I used a tin of condensed chicken soup instead of white sauce. Next time, I wouldn't bother with the garlic butter on the top and instead would just mix in some garlic with the soup/sauce.

Posh tomato bake. Never again. Both OH and I thought it tasted strange.

Creamy potatoes with ham. I missed out the cumin as I didn't have any, but a really nice dish that we will definitely have again. Could make with left over chicken or other meat too.

We never have the same meal more than once a month. Examples of what we have are:
    roast dinner
    chicken wraps
    lasagne
    oven omelette
    different varieties of pasta bakes
    concoction salad
    toad in the hole
    sausage and mash
sausage and beans (we don't like mixed beans so just use baked beans. We also use whatever flavour sausages we happen to have in)
pasta with leeks and pancetta (can use bacon or ham instead and we just use bog standard mushrooms. I pick them out anyway :D)
    gammon, egg, chips and beans
    pork steaks in mediterranean sauce

Let me know if you'd like any more ideas or recipes.

    Hugs to Izzy.

I know I'm not Krystal but recently I read that one of the reasons for refusing the breast can be teething. Not sure where I read it, but I definitely did :D

    Evening All

    I hope everyone is well:)

I've not really had a chance to get on lately and probably won't come on much at all from now onwards.

Kai has been a bit under the weather, so has been extremely miserable and really hard work especially as he hasn't been sleeping barely at all (day or night) and just crying a lot.... On top of that I have so much organising to do and sorting out finances for uni. We have also just bought a car, but as money is so tight at the moment we bought a cheap one that needed work doing to it, nearly done with it now and will have a £2500 car for £1600, so quite a good saving:)

Just want to thank everyone who I have chatted to both from the pregnancy thread and on here and I 'will try' to pop in on the odd occasion to check up on how things are going with everyone, but not sure if I will actually manage to.

Good luck for the future everyone, love and best wishes to all:)

    Mel x
