  • Morning all:)

Well my brain is hurting -just been trying to define words like 'culture' and 'theme' for ds2 who has typically left his hmwk till the last minute -in fact he says he's going to finish it on the bus:rolleyes: Those words are harder to define than you think. Knowing what they mean and being able to explain what they mean are two different things.

Ds2 and dd have had hm granola for breakfast and ds1 has had scrambled eggs and toast.

Lunch -the kids have the bacon and cheese scones I made yesterday, strawberries and grapes and chocolate biscuit cake. OH has cheese and chutney sandwiches and wasabi beans! plus an apple.

Supper- I have a packet of puff pastry defrosting with which I will make two tarts. One with roast veg and goat cheese for me and OH and one with tomato, ham and cheddar for the kids. I'll get them ready this afternoon and refrigerate them until I get back from swimming with dd at about 5.30, then I'll bake them and serve with salad.

My mum is coming over today with plants for the little bed under our bay window. She's dying to sort my garden out, so it would be mean not to let her really.

I've got ironing to do- groan.

I'm also popping up to the post office with a book to return to Amazon. Yes, another impulse buy backfires - Jamie's America is a lovely book with beautiful photographs and some yummy looking recipes, but I know I won't use them. So that's £2.75 wasted for the p&p. I really must learn to wait and borrow new books from the library:wall:

    Morning :hello:

I picked some runner beans yesterday and put the basket on the floor while I cleaned the worktops. I'd also let the guinea pigs out for a run around. I turned round and saw this (click the pic for bigger pic) -

    :rotfl:

I was given a carrier bag full of cooking apples yesterday so I'll peel and freeze them today.

I need to rearrange my ramblings (there's bits of paper everwhere  ) into some sort of order and put it all onto my website, so I'll be sitting down for most of today :D

    Morning peeps

it has been cold in the night here ( the windows have those little bits of condensation in the corners) but it is now gloriously sunny, shame that i`m w*rking today but at least it`s the late shift so i can enjoy the sun.

Celyn - The cake looks absolutely fab, you are very talented.

JackieO - Hope that your arm is better quickly.

Haribo - There are some weirdos out there, hope that you shake yours off, they must lead sad little lives. I remember ages ago that you posted how many read the thread as to how many actually post and it made me a bit nervous.

Thriftlady - Those biscuits looked gorgeous, i`ve bookmarked them :D thanks for posting the link

I shall be out walking the houndies shortly and then neatly filling up a cupboard that i emptied last night. I think that an envelope full of reciepts has been accidentally thrown away  i can find most bits and bobs out from the bank statement which arrived ysterday, i asked for one early so that i could sort things out. It really annoys me that this has happened and i`m not up to date with everything.
BUT i now have a new bright red folder with sections inside which i have labelled for the months ahead so all the reciepts can now go in there and it`s so big and bright that it should be easily spottable no matter where it ends up :D

I am going to have a quick look through the sack of paper which is ready to burn on bonfire night just in case its near the top but i doubt it.

I can smell my sausages cooking in the remoska and they are making me feel hungry, i have to wait until i`m back with the houndies for breakfast though or i shall eat one after another until they are all gone.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning all.

Haribo - yikes at stalkers, have people really not got anything better to do? How weird!

N9eve - enjoy the sailing. Is it police sailing, or just for your own enjoyment? We have a police sailing section in our force who do monthly regattas.

Raining here, shame as it turned out lovely yesterday afternoon. Its my last day off before going back to work tomorrow, boo hoo. Not sure what plans are, getting dressed would be a start though!

    Nothing OS to report.

    Have a good day.

    Morning everybody

Dull start to the day today but apparently its gonna get warm later.
Got to pop down the market this morning, ran out of potatoes, may buy a big sack of them, will have to clean a space out in the barn tho first.
Need to make some more cakes, hubby scoffed all of his chocolate orange muffins...think it was the novelty of having a gluten free cake that wasn't really dry and tasteless :p

Going to clean our hallway out...i'm aiming to do a room a day, yesterday i did the living room.
Dinner tonight its Duck a'lorange, posh waitrose ready meals, wouldn't normally serve a ready meal but they were only 40p each in our staff shop :T

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Morning peeps. Its overcast but warm here and if yesterday is anything to go by then it'll be hot and sunny by lunchtime. Have just put WM on meant to do it last night so could hang out this morning but 4got :o. DS2 started high school yesterday, seems to have gone ok. He's a bit of a woorier and we did have tears before bedtime, he'd got lost a couple of times and is now worried that if he gets lost again he'll get detention. I sat him down and had a good long chat with him about it all, and a BIG cuddle as well.
DH has gone off to hospital this morning - he is a welder and managed to get a tiny piece of metal in his eye a couple of weeks ago, the doc managed to remove it but sent him to hospital for thorough check and they found he had an infection in his eye...probly because he left it from the friday till the following wednesday before doing anything about it . Hopefully though today will be the last trip, can do without the petrol budget being blown too much (50 mile round trip to the hospital!).
Right I must go and get dressed..... need to leave for work in 5 mins or so and I'll half dressed...pj bottoms and work shirt! Not a good look.
WM on...don't know whats for tea yet, probably fish pan fried with some chips.

  • Good morning everyone. Starting out bright and sunny this morning which always helps my mood. DH turned the alarm off this morning and promptly went back to sleep. We next woke up 5 minutes before he was to be out the door! I got his lunch packed while he got ready and sent him out the door. Not the best start of a day however I'm now relaxing with another cup of coffee and planning the day.

I stopped by the hardware store yesterday to pick up paint for the girl in the flat downstairs. I found a 5 liter pail of a beautiful violet vinyl paint that was half priced at £7.99! It is just the colour I wanted for the lower half of the walls in our bath so we got it. Quite chuffed about that. :T

Today's plans are to move the tv, dvd etc from their place and paint the bit of ceiling by the window that was re-plastered. A job like that is best done when DH is at work. ;) It will take more time to move the things than do the actual painting I think.

Tea tonight is undecided and I'll have a root around in the freezer in a few and pull something out.

I made the chocolate fudge pudding cake and an apple caramel sauce cake last night. The apples were ones that had fallen into the garden and had some spots but were fine once those spots were cut out. I need to portion them into containers this morning and freeze them so I don't keep [STRIKE]eating[/STRIKE] tasting them to make sure they're ok.

Hope everyone has a good day. ((((((((GentleHugs)))))))))) to all who want/need them.

    Morning all

Lovely morning here, washing on line already (where does it all come from - there are only 3 of us but I feel as though I wash for at least double that!)

Chicken casserole last night was lovely and I have frozen 2 portions to take with us when we go off to caravan next, so very OS as it was literally thrown together with odds and ends in fridge and freezer!:D Not sure what is for tea tonight as OH is off today so will be his worry whilst I am out:D

Had an interesting day at Jury Service yest but that trial finished so it is back to sitting and waiting to be called to a trial again - luckily Central Library is next door so I went and got a couple of good books in my lunch hour;) Although you get a daily lunch allowance (5.55 per day on a swipe card), canteen is not very good and if you don't use it you can have it in monetary value at the end of the two weeks, so I have been taking a packed lunch with me, quite pleased with myself being so OS and feel that I am saving still (I have an ongoing new(er) caravan fund - very small fund at the moment though)

N9eav - enjoy the sailing hope you get good weather for it
Haribo - hope the stalker is not upsetting you too much
Celyn - your cake was fab, you are so talented

Ok best get ready - 10 a.m. start this morning but Court is in centre of Leeds so need to take bus/rush hour into consideration. Will catch up with thread later - have a good day all
