Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 9th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning.

I took the day off today to go sailing in a 2 man dinghy competition. This year I am with someone else, as my regular ship mate can't go. It should be fun, but going up to Plymouth, then finding parking etc..... I am wondering if it's worth the effort. I hope so. They said the sun might shine today.

It rained all day yesterday.

This morning at 09:09 and 09 seconds on the 9th of the 9th ,09 it will be
09 09 09 09 09 09
Won't happen again for 100 years
:think::think::think::think:

Up early today, can't sleep..... need to get ready to sail anyway. Don't have a thing done...

Cheers

Morning n9eav, sistercas and all who follow :)

    N9eav - enjoy your sailing today :)
sistercas - enjoy your meal out :)

Nothing much planned today, I have to go to the post-office _pale_ at some point to post a couple of parcels and then it's just work.

I have been asked to make a birthday cake for the head of the institute _pale_ but at least this time I got more than three days notice :) I am going to make a model of the building, so have been taking photos all morning.

No idea what dinner will be - probably need to use the brocolli in the fridge though :)

have a good day everyone, cel x

    Morning all,

Beautiful day here again, apparantly we are in for a bit of an Indian summer :T, off to work today, dont fancy going, but bills need paying.

Rubbish and re-cycling to go out this morning, I also need to do a quick tidy round before I go.

Mushroom pasta, for tea with a salad, nice and easy, about 5 mins to prep it all ;).

N9eav enjoy the fishing, and Sistercas enjoy the meal out.

    Have fun all xx
  • Morning All

N9eav have a great day sailing.

Not as warm here thankfully, it was lovely yesterday but only if you were doing nothing, too hot otherwise.

Today in office this morning, have a Tesco delivery coming and need to do some ironing. Nothing exciting there :rotfl:

Think will be ham salad today that we should have had yesterday, have a lot of new pots to use, I will cook loads and use them up again tomorrow - menu plan will need adjusting.

Off now for a little surf before packed lunch making.

  • Morning everyone :hello:

Just a quick one as I have to make breakfast. OH fancies kippers .
Haven't caught up with the last couple of threads so hope all is well. I appear to have a couple of internet stalkers on here so haven't been bothered to log in  They're to be pitied really (I say "they" but it's the same one with 2 names) and I have enough to be doing in real life without wondering about some faceless saddo troll following me around :D Anyway, if you're watching.... :hello: :hello: :hello: and I'm pretty sure I recognise your style
Have lots of little errands to run today including post office and cobbler and really need to get some gardening done if it stays dry. Also need to get a prezzie for a lovely friend as a thank you for something. Tea is tuna fishcakes I prepped last night with salad from the garden.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all! :hello:

Off to the doctors with DS2 this morning. We're having trouble with him in school, I keep getting called in as he isn't concentrating, won't do as he is told, interrupts, won't be quiet etc etc. At home he is fine, but it's almost as though he goes through a Jekyll and Hyde transformation when he walks through the school gates. Having been called in again yesterday as he was apparently fighting (which I am very suprised at as this is very unusual, he doesn't even fight with his brother) was the final straw, and so we are off to the GP to rule out anything like ADHD. I personally think it is lack of routine in school which is part of the problem, they have this new Foundation Phase Curriculum which is play based and very relaxed, and with a class of 30 relaxed can soon turn into chaos. It doesn't help that he hates school anyway, and cries most mornings because he doesn't want to go. Anyway hopefully the GP will be able to tell us whether it sounds like there is an actual treatable problem, and if so refer us to the relevant people. Alternatively home schooling is looking like a more attractive idea by the minute...

Anyway, that's us today, hope you all have a good one! x

    Good morning all.

N9eav - have a good day; hope the sun shines for you.

Haribo - I hope your stalker gives up; his/her own life must be pretty empty.

Helyg - what a worry. We all want our children to be happy at school, don't we? It does sound as if something is not quite right, especially if he's doing things that are out of character, so you're right to take him to the GP. A lack of routine in the school could well be the problem. Play-based learning is what children do at home; they need more structure at school because it prepares them for life in the big world outside. Good luck - hope you can get to the bottom of it.

Well, a bit cooler here than yesterday but the sun looks as if it will come out later this morning.

We had a late dinner last night. Fortunately, I had made a casserole in the Remoska but, just as I was about to dish up, our neighbour knocked on the door. We store his caravan in our barn; he has used it recently but will not need it again until next year, so we all helped move it back in for the winter. Then we were invited in for aperitifs (lovely HM pineau) and we staggered back slightly sozzled and ate at 9pm. I had covered the casserole with two layers of foil so it carried on cooking slowly and was delicious. The neighbours also gave me a huge bowl of really fat tomatoes, so today I will be roast-drying some of them and salsa-ing the rest. The tomatoes I grew this year were cherry tomatoes - the ones I've been given are massive.

Well, the WM is on and I've done the basic chores; just need to sort the tomatoes out and then I have some 'real' work to do.

Hope you all have a great day and hope all the poorly ones are feeling better.

    Good morning all!
    N9eav enjoy your sailing.
Celyn your cake yesterday was fantastic!
It looks like its going to be a good day here too. Packed lunch is sorted and I'm having pasta leftovers for lunch. Tea will be chicken(if I take it out of the freezer!) with rice and veg.
I was very extravagent(sp) yesterday and treated myself to some expensive baking trays from lakeland. I got one a few weeks ago and everything just slides off it. So I got two more and am going to put my old ones(that stick!) away just for some other use-like defrosting the freezer. They were so expensive but hopefully will last for a few years.
I have cleaning and gardening done today. I'm still getting used to having more that a day at a time without dd, I feel like I've so much time and then end up wasting it and realising at 2pm that I only have an hour left before I go for her. Anyway jobs need doing as today as I'm going to Ikea tomorrow with my mum after we've taken dd to school-she'll be taking her when I'm at work as I start at 7am.
I had a bad headache yesterday and my throats been prickly for a few days, I think a cold's on its way and am starting to want it to hurry up and arrive properly so I can start feeling better.
Oh dear I've gone on a bit this morning-must be the lack of adult company with not being at work this week!
Hugs for those that need one.

    Morning everyone.

    N9eav - hope you don't sink ;)

Celyn - I see your cake popularity is rising :D

HJ - is it nice to be so popular ;)

Helyg - hope you get some support for your son

Well not much happening here. Had yet another rubbish nights sleep with the kids. DS came in to see us at 1.30am and had to be put back into bed and then shortly after that DD was rolling round her cot, whinging etc. This went on and off for an hour and in the end I sat and cuddled her. My eyes are sore again and no doubt by 3pm I shall feel like a zombie!
Meeting H in Brum for lunch with the kids. Its the last time we can all do this as DS starts afternoon sessions at nursery next week so wanted to squeeze in one last visit.
Have just made the chilli for tea and put it in SC. I use mild chilli powder from tescos and it doesn't smell as nice as the stuff my mum uses for her chilli (I made a chilli round at her house when she was laid up with her bad back). I think I will have to get rid of mine and get some more......
So going to try and clean the bathroom this morning and put on some more washing before we have to leave. Am hoping if we all take a packed lunch it will be a NSD or at least a very small spend day........

Have a good day OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.
