Hi there everyone,
It's taken me a while to locate the chat thread from the codes one, glad I've finally found it!
Just a quick question really, how do people originally find out about the codes? I signed up with SeeFilmFirst at least a year ago now - I had one code emailed to me, was lucky enough to get tickets, filled in the feedback thing after the film, but have NEVER had any more contact from them, even since informing them of a change of email address. I've used the codes from the thread, and logged in fine, and been accepted for tickets. Any ideas?

You'd never see another preview if you waited for a code to be sent from SFF, even when you do receive an email, the code will have been around for a while and most of the tickets have gone.
There are lots of websites that you can check - Sky and Total Film for instance. Sign up for the email from Total Film. I found a code in Hello mag today and sometimes other magazines and newspapers have them. The Times for example but they have made it harder for non subscribers to apply for previews.
Unfortunately, many people who post codes don't disclose their source.0 -
Thanks for the info - looking forward to seeing it tonight now. Surprised no-one reported back on Alice in 3D -unfortunately I didn't get free tickets so was wondering if it is worth actually paying!!! to see it. Realise that I can't use Nectar points as its 3D but can you use Orange 241 offer?
I loved AIW as did my friends and their little girl who, although was scared a little, she braved it out and it was truly wonderful to hear her laughing when the Cheshire Cat disappeared and re-appeared.
I don't understand why some are saying there was nothing new about the film!Alice arrives in Wonderland in her late teens without remembering that she had been there before. The Hatter displays true madness and one scene in particular is so poignant it brought a lump to my throat.
The scenes were Alice grows and shrinks are very well done with the added problem of what happens to her clothes being addressed humerously.
All the actors played their parts very well and I was amazed at how many Brits were involved when they were interviewed on the Red Carpet. I never expected Barbara Windsor to be in a Tim Burton film but her role as the voice of the Dormouse is quite substantial.
I realise it is very expensive to pay to see a 3D film but I recommend it. Sit back and let the beauty of the film waft over you.0 -

This review sums up exactly why I disliked the movie, which I as highly anticipating.
The last sentence of the penultimate paragraph really does show why the story was disappointing, and really wasn't much more than that sentence describes.
Fortunately, for the movie, a lot of critics seem to be writing favourably of it. But this just leads me to the opinion that they are paid. Oh well!0 -

As for codes DIRECTLY FROM SFF - that's not actually what they are there for.
Apart from issuing "emergency" last minute ones to hoover up all the stragglers, in order to try to ensure the best attendances possible, they are there to REDEEM CODES & ISSUE TICKETS
The codes are usually and generally issued in a "promotional" capacity via a selection of magazines, newspapers, an occasional regional or company publication, and a few websites.
The intention, in some cases, is that the publication is purchased because of (and to obtain) the code and this obviously increases sales, (well that's the intention) but places like MSE defeat this somewhat because of our caring, sharing attitude
(Although some do require additional physical redemption of a token, voucher, coupon or page from the original source of a code)
In other cases a particular film or screening(s) may be TARGETTED at a particular audience - eg ONLY the readers of Cosmopolitan for instance - for which they may be looking for a particular type of feedback to evaluate the likely success (or not) of a film potentially "aimed" at females aged 25 to 35 (if you get what I mean)
