Well, I personally don't think that my PM was rude, since I said 'please' and 'thanks', but I guess some people get offended easily than others. If that's the case with ThatGuyMatt, I apologize.
Apart from that, I agree with everything Poochface has said. I think people need to hold off and read through the thread before posting, it doesn't take that long!A post count doesn't always give a true idea of how long a person has been using the forum BUT there are nicer ways of contacting someone.
As another user has stated, it doesn't take a lot to check to see if a code has been posted and people just aren't doing that. You, unfortunately have posted when there has been a lot of problems with idiots using the code thread just for chat, knowing full well that it irritates people and costs some people who get the email alerts and check using mobile phones.
So please don't allow the sharpness of one pm to put you off posting codes or chat in the right threads, it will be sheer annoyance and frustration on that person's part, at least I hope it was.
If you stick around long enough you will see for yourself how annoying it can be to get duplicated codes, one after another in a row as has happened today, then you get those who think they are helping by adding little bits to a post made by someone else. Usually all you need to do is log in to SFF or similar to find the list of cinemas etc all by yourself.
People don't seem to realise that you can delete a post as few rarely do even when asked to by a polite pm.:)
Thank you for wanting to share and I totally understand the excitement of finding a new code and wanting to do your bit by posting it in the thread, this time it was a duplicate, next time it might not be. So don't let one sharply worded pm put you off. Your intention was good and that says a lot, it really does.0 -

It also doesnt take long to step down off your high horse and check the forum to see that I actually apoligised to the thread after I'd posted a duplicated link.
I think everyone on both the codes only board, and the discusssion boards need to realise that we're only human and people make mistakes.
Yes, I posted a duplicate link, which was done completely by accident when trying to assist a newbie by converting their !!!!!!!.com link into a fully useable code
I took the private PM from Javic a lot better than Matt, but I certainly dont expect to recieve grief from a newbie, when all I was actually doing was trying to help a fellow newbie out
rant over
p.s its funny how only one newbie complained yet many more thanked me for converting the link0 -
Yes, and I sent you the PM before you amended your post. Why do people get so offended by getting a PM? It's not like I've been shouting at you or anything. Again, apologies if it offended anybody. Today I just tried to stop the noise in the codes-only thread, and being as polite as I could, and considerate with other subscribers by not posting the message on the thread itself. But I think it's going to be the last time I do it.
On a side note...
newbie = "One that is new to something". Well, it turns out that I've been in this forum longer than you two.
But in any case, if the same remark comes from somebody that has joined just a week ago, does that make the message less truthful??geordie_ben wrote: »It also doesnt take long to step down off your high horse and check the forum to see that I actually apoligised to the thread after I'd posted a duplicated link.

in the future, check before posting. Thanks.
This was Private Messaged me by Javic. With a post count of 5.
I thought this forum was built on the premise of informing others about deals/freebies etc....this was my first post...I certainley dont feel like posting anymore.
Hi TGM, don't be TOO concerned, although I agree it is rather ABRUPT, especially from such a "novice".
On the few occasions I have PMed about such an issue I have sent something like
Hi xxxxxxxx.
Thanks for trying to provide us with new codes for free screenings.
However it is an exact DUPLICATE of one posted yesterday afternoon and the "etiquette" of that particular thread means the preferred procedure would be now for you to Delete your post.
Removing it helps maintain the thread to be the shortest it can.
I'm not sure if you are aware but any post that you have already made can be Edited by yourself (eg. to update or correct mistakes) and also Deleted - so as to remove it altogether from a thread.
Just go to the post in that thread, hit the EDIT button - a box will appear where you could make changes if you want to - OR you can hit the DELETE button. Just follow your nose, I'm sure you can work it out.
Thanks for trying to give us all a new code.
Better luck next time at being first.
Cheers

It's rare but occasionally I've had such a pleasant response (and the post deleted as requested) to which I've had to reply with ..Hi xxxxxxxx,
Thanks for that, and especially your pleasant and friendly response to my PM.
You'd be amazed at some replies you get when trying to help and keep the Codes only thread as short as possible, in some sort of tidy order, and save the mods a bit of their very precious time from deleting spurious & un-neccessary posts.
Thanks again

It is frustrating to see codes repeated again & again, especially posts announcing "more tickets available" on a code that's a week old - tickets for any particular code appear & disappear with the randomness of a specific butterfly landing on a specific flower on the other side of the world.
The only certainty is that FURTHER TICKETS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE ONCE THE SCREENING HAS STARTED - UNTIL THEN THEY ARE !

I understand why you all get so mad about the Alerts thread (similar words are exchanged on the Mystery Shopping Alerts thread)
Only just joined a few days ago and even i can see the code has been repeated 3/4 times. I get a little excited when i see the email then dissapointment as i realise that it's the same one again lolI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

I cant get on to the see films free website either.
I must admit I am getting really really fed up getting emails constantly with either chat or the same code repeated tons of times. We were actually told that the best way to ask someone politely was to send them a pm rather than chatting on the codes thread. I do think, and I am sure someone will moan at me for saying that, but I do think that before people post a code they check first to see if its been posted already. If its a new code or newish it will have been posted recently and will save getting tons of emails regarding the same thing. I have logged on and have had tons of emails today mostly for chat or the same code.Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0
