11 months ago I started an application for the Governments Mortgage Rescue Scheme (Mortgage to Rent option) after my husband and I became bankrupt and were facing repossession of our home. Its been a long uphill struggle with many setbacks and has put my emotions through the shredder. Today we had the news we have been waiting for.

The mortgage company have agreed to allow the mortgage rescue to complete and are writing OFF the shortfall

    That's brilliant news.

But there surely has to be an easier way to get rescued. Martin's name has been linked to this scheme.

Hope he's been reading this thread!

In answer to your question Fatbelly, I did PM Martin Lewis on someones suggestion a while back asking him for advice.

He kindly replied to my PM and said he would get his team to look at my situation.

I then had a reply from his team to say there was nothing they could do as they were not specialists in the scheme, they could not add to the info we could get from the mrs officer and they had no power to get the banks to agree to write off the shortfall.

They supplied me with an address to approach for the ombudsman should I need to take things further.

Fortunately I am now in the position to stop fighting my corner so to speak :) but I am very willing to help others in any small way I can who are also contemplating mortgage rescue. Hopefully some good may come out of this thread, if anything to raise awareness of the scheme and help others facing repossession.

Since our phone call from the LA last week, its all gone very quiet !

I found out that we will be only the third mortgage rescue completed for our area  I think that speaks volumes for the complexity of the scheme.

So now im on another waiting game, as not quite sure what will happen next. Im still concerned that the mortgage lender might send us forms to sign (dont want to be tricked into signing for the shortfall now they have agreed to write it off!!!, sorry im so cynical now :o), and I wont be signing anything without getting it thoroughly checked first.

I will continue to update as I hope this thread has helped others to maybe avoid repossession.
