You 100% sure you want to spend 7 days in KL? Why not spend 3 of those in Penang or Cameron Highlands?
I would second that, KL is not very exciting and I would also suggest you go there first for a couple of nights then spend the rest of the time in Langkawi and/or Penang where it's super relaxing. We did it the wrong way round Penang then KL and I was wound up again after a week in KL.
Unless you really like wandering around marble shopping malls looking at mega expensive stuff?0 -
Hi
I went to KL - Langkawi for my honeymoon 2 years ago. KL is great but I agree 7 days is too long, not much left to do after 3 days really. We went again this summer and really struggled, as we felt that we had seen and done everything the first time we were there.
Now onto Langkawi, it is my absolute No 1 favourite place in the world, closely followed by the Perhenthian Islands.
Anyway, we stayed at the Casa del Mar, it truely is a superb little boutique hotel, there is nothing and I mean nothing that is too much for the staff who work there. I agree with the booking B&B there, there are some superb restaurants up and down the beach, which are very very cheap. We booked our honeymoon ourselves and saved a considerable amount of money - we booked B&B with Casa del Mar but also incorporated the honeymoon package into it so we had a moonlit dinner on the beach, his & her massage at the spa, flowers, chocs etc. Well worth it.
In terms of getting to Langkawi, Casa del Mar did include private transfer from the airport in their room packages, the airport really isnt far away anyway. We flew with Malaysian, but I believe Fireflyz have a route (and they are very good) as are Air Asia, the flight is about 1 hour so no point in paying over the odds.
I cannot stress enough how fab Langkawi is, do hire a car (cheap also) we buzzed about all over.
Happy to answer any other questions you might have

if thats the cae where else in malaysia you think i should go
At least 3 days in Penang. If you haven't been out in the night foodmarkets of Georgetown you haven't done Malaysia. Penang has the reputation for having some of the best (and cheapest) food in the world. There are influences from everywhere - Europe, India, China, Thailand and of course the local stuff. You can get a dish for a pound - so if you don't like it you just order something else.
You can then get the ferry from Penang to Langkawi. It's not exactly a luxury trip, but it's an experience.
The danger of a two week holiday is trying to fit too much in. If you tried to do the Cameron Highlands and some of the east coast islands you'd spend more time travelling than holidaying but a 3 centre trip is very do-able.
As for your food requirements, Malaysia has a huge Indian population so it veggie food is everywhere (pork sausages are hard to find though!)0 -
i think i am gonna stick with 7 days in kl
we have been doin alot of research on kl and we both think 7 days is ok. and if we run out of things to we could more alone time or chill out at the hotel pool0 -
Hi Rajuv
If you are thinking of doing it on your own, instead of travel agents, you are looking too far ahead. There are still no offers yet, so to speak. I would say hang in there, do a lot of research first and when a good offer for flights comes along, just book it.
For KL, you would probably can spend a few days sightseeing, shopping, visit Batu Caves on another day and spend a day at Sunway Lagoon. Do a lot of planning on your routes. Taxis are relatively cheap but they do jack up their prices horrendously and the traffic jams are stuff of nightmares.
Don't worry too much about food. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, cafes in KL and Langkawi, which will cater to different needs. Hotels usually do fantastic buffet spreads for different meals of the days where you can pick and choose.
However, it is well worth coming out of the hotel and going to any nearby food places. Just ask the concierge for nearest, good "ma-mak" stall where you can have a cornucopia of goodies to eat. Do try the "roti canai" which is like a paratha. Freshly made it is very good!
A few Malay phrases for you :
"Tak nak daging" (pronounce Tark nark da-ging") for no meat, please)
"Hindu. Tak makan lembu" (pronounce Tark mar-khan lerm-boo) saying you are a Hindu and you don't eat beef). The locals will appreciate a Terima Kasih (ter-ree-ma car-say) which is Thank you0 -
