My banana loaves are looking a bit suspect, have to say. Oh well...I need to provide some home baking for the rugby club on Sunday anyway, so if my lot don't like banana loaf I'll freeze it and send it in sliced and buttered for the starving mob of 13 year old rugby players to have instead. Do you think it would be best to freeze it sliced or unsliced?
Okay, scratch that. They turned out bloomin' gorgeous, which is amazing because I left out the cinnamon (don't have it because I don't like it), used a bit of lumpy old molasses sugar instead of light demerara and put some just out of date sesame seeds into it instead of poppy seeds a la the recipe. Sod the kids liking/not liking it....I'll eat it myself if no-one else does. The rugby club can have rock buns as usual. (My seven year old loves making rock buns.....she can turn out 36 for me on friday afternoon.)Val.0 -

Happy birthday moilere
Helyg - I have forty five crochets rose in a box under the bed waiting to be stitched onto brooch backsI keep meaning to finish them - I made them when I was invigilating exams in the summer! I have them down to under ten minutes a piece now
My house is a shrime to unfinished projects
I am making my bosses birthday cake and it is a nightmare. I only had a day really to work on itI have to finish a figure and a motorcycle tonight then I'm done, but I will have to leave work at 4pm to have time. I am worried about the fondant not supporting the weight.
Valk - glad your banana loaf was good
Dinner will be quorn bologenese - OH didn't notice last time, so I'll probably get away with it again. Had some small puffballs to use yesterday, so we had them with eggs and muffins for tea last night. Still dealing with my apple mountain - I dehydrated some of them - and OH has been eating them with museli despite the fact they are bramleys (too tart for me). I put some in with the damsons and will finish the jam tonight whilst I'm swearing at sugar paste
Right - must go, have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Afternoon peeps
the weather has turned out to be gorgeous, lovely warm and sunny so my washing is almost dry. I shall iron it all later.
I nipped to Sainsburys after walking the hounds as i had to go quite close to pay the bank a visit and picked up some bacon so i`ve just eaten bacon scrambled egg and mushrooms for dinner YUM! that makes up for not having any breakfast.
I also treated myself to an extra snuggly dressing gown - looking forward to snuggling up in it on the cold winter nights to come, i also bought a skirt  i don`t normaly do skirts and am strictly a trousers and jeans person but i found a pair of boots that i didn`t know that i had when i cleared out a wardrobe last week so it will be smashing with those for winter.
I have a ton of stuff to do now so i`ll have a quick ten minutes catching up whilst i finish my cuppa and then it will be all systems go housework wise
Have a lovely afternoon everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
HI there!!! Happy Birthday to everyone today. And to all those mums of school age kids - isn't it quiet at home?!!!! We moved in the summer holidays but my two were up and ready to go very early this morning. No hint of nervousness - hopefully this will continue. Managed to get youngest into playgroup next door to the school.
Came home and have cooked meals for a whole army - 6 double portions of everything - so 12 meals in all - should mean that I don't suffer from "can't be bothered- itus!" This in turn will save us cash.
Also went through the freezer and made a list of its contents. This afternoon I'm cake and biscuit cooking in preparation for the pick up run when my little tornadoes whirl in through the door and scream that they're hungry. I figure that if I cook it not only do I save money but I know what goes into it.
Tomorrow I'm checking the rest of my cupboards in prep for a Costco shopping trip on Wednesday - this will be fab. Have started buying / making for Christmas and the other day I wrapped all the presents I have - partly so that my kids wouldn't discover them, but also to see what I have - and I have over 90%
YIPEE - will have to celebrate with that saved money!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Afternoon all
Been MIA since last Wednesday had some bad news and did'nt feel like doing much of anything
Well today has been nice and sunny up to now, rain is forecast hope not though it would be nice to have 1 day with no rain.
Have cleaned all the back downstairs windows with stardrops and white vinegar and must say I am impressed, they really shine so do the surrounds, defo use that again :T
Gave the suite a real good clean this morning with leather cleaner, I have'nt done it properly since the girls went home 23rd August, kept meaning to but never got round to it.
Lunch was a huge bowl of fruit and a WW fromage frais,
Dinner will be chicken with all the trimmings,
I need to cook some sausages, they've been in the fridge for ages, hope they are ok
I have been out in the garden for a couple of hours, is it me or are there more slugs than usual around this year

Afternoon all :hello:
Had the dentist first thing, so teeth are cleaned but now sensitive, so drinking tea was agony when i got home! Have to go again next week for a fitting of the plate to replace those i had out in feb in hospital, at least that wont be painful.
Money seems to be running away today  my mobile wouldnt go this morning [it was six years old!!]so i had to buy a new one then i went to BQ and they had some rolls of fibreglass wallpaper reduced to £3 but that saved me £104,hooray!! Need this as wall up the stairs is 'not good' and a decorator friend suggested this was an option rather than all the plaster coming off and replastering,i don't think i could deal with the mess and dust everywhere,at least it will look good i hope.
Ironing later and i want to make some lemon curd,i have some spotty bananas so may do what some others have done and make a loaf ,yum yum.
Msd....i will go around sniffing now
Mioliere...have a great birthday and  to you and DS
valkscot....happy birthday to ds
Patentgirl....how exciting! fingers crossed for you all

Patentgirl - ooooh how exciting. Hope DD delivers safe and relatively pain free. Keep us update!
Just been speaking to a friend. Her H was made redundant. shes been put on a 3 day week at work (she's off on maternity leave for next 2 weeks). They can't cover their outgoings and have no idea what they are going to do. Have done my best and pointed her in this boards direction and with some tips on reducing the shopping bill. No idea if it will help her but wanted to try and assist in what ever way I can. she's had to take a 40% pay cut - if my H had to do that we'd be well and truly stuffed
Anyway have cooked come orange and chocolate biccies. They are delishJust have to make sure I don't scoff them all!!!

I had a back to back one for my second...the midwives sent me home with instructions to spend twenty minutes of every hour crawling around on the carpet, or at least kneeling on all fours and rocking through the contractions. It takes the pressure off the back and gives the baby more room to rotate, apparently. He did turn eventually and I had him in the all fours position, come to think of it. (This is the one who is 13 today, actually!) So it might be worth a try for her?
Good luck to her anyway....!Val.0
