  • two of my daughters friends are using 3 on pay as you go in North Wales and the reception is great I brought my daughter a t-mobile and that is useless we can only use it in certain parts of the garden or in our town yet the 3 phones have a good signal, so I really think it depends on where you live.
a please & thank you is all it takes
  • Wow looks like I found this site just in time.

Just wanted to say that these adverts can be a bit decieving on tv as 3 say they are 5p per minute to any network at anytime but I just wanted to warn people who might not have realised but if you do go out of your minutes allowance its only 5p for the 3g mobile calls but its 25p to other mobiles. I also read on the site they charge for itemised billing now £1
    Thanx

I wouldn't recommend 3 to anyone. Fortunately I had not disconnected my Orange phone when I took out the contract with 3, I have to carry both phones with me as 3 is so unreliable. I went for 3 because their cross network price plan was cheap but certainly isn't best. The only reason I did not return it under their return policy if you are not completely satisfied is that I went on holiday for 2 weeks a few days after taking delivery of the phone (NEC 616), by the time I had returned from my holiday and started using the phone it was too late to return it. The problems are, signal drops off for around 30 seconds at a time so even when it drops a call you cannot reconnect immediately. At least half of all my attempted calls and connections fail not forgetting that the battery life of this phone is dreadful, one full day from the extended battery and a few hours from the slim battery. Its more like a 1st generation analogue phone instead of the high tech 3 rd generation that its meant to be, roll on 5 months time when I can phone 3 on my 11th month and terminate my contract. (I use the phone mainly around Glasgow)

    * Constant (Several times/week) Call dropping
    * Did I mention Zero Customer Service?
    * You have 2g reception, but callers get voicemail!!!

Well i think that all networks have areas with poor coverage. Where i live Orange is poor. People often complain about dropped calls on 3, with Orange i get dropped calls as the signal is so poor that during a call it will cut off. This is not only a problem with 3 it effects all networks.

I cant make a call with Orange at home, with 3 i can make a video call which is impressive, and i get no dropped calls.

Much depends on where you live. Some areas will be better on 3 some will better on another network.

Do what i did buy a cheap NEC E313 or E228 and try out 3, if it does not work dont sign up for a contract. Dont listen to what people say about the NECs being unreliable, my E313 if fine and 2 of my friends NECs are too. After all many are sold if they were having prolems you would soon hear about them. I think that most problems were with the early NECs.

    Well astra46

Why should someone be so stupid with their money and buy a phone to try out a network before signing up to the network?

To tell someone not to listen to a number of genuine peoples views of their own experience of a truly unreliable phone service is not only offensive to the people who posted their views and experience of 3 but irresponsible with regard to the person seeking advice.

With regard to your reference to quote "Don't listen to what people say about the NEC's being unreliable, my E313 if fine and 2 of my friends NEC's are too. After all many are sold if they were having problems you would soon hear about them. I think that most problems were with the early NEC's"

I have an NEC e616 which is hardly an old model, its riddled with in built faults and to manufacture & market a phone with a battery life of one day is pathetic.

Even T Mobile (formerly one 2 one better known in the mobile trade as one 2 none) has better network coverage and customer service than 3. I know that you don't believe me or any of the others who posted opinions so I suggest you read the reviews in one or more of the which mobile phone magazines on sale for a "true" picture of how dreadful 3 is.
