3 is the cheapest, but is it best

does 3 charge per minute or per second? can anyone confirm this? most network now are charging per second.0
-
I think the previous poster is getting confused, and that per minute billing is only while roaming (and, presumably, not while roaming in the coutries where Three has a network, where it costs exactly the same as at home).
Looking at Three's site, from http://www.three.co.uk/BlobServer.srv?blobdir=ImportantDoc&blobfile=feb_for500update.pdf :
"Calls made from the UK and from participating 3 Like Home networks, are normally charged by
the second. However, calls made when abroad are normally charged per minute."
Anyway, it's easy enough for you to find out: make a few short calls and then visit Planet Three to find out how your usage allowance has gone down. That's a great thing about Three - you really can tell easily how much of your monthly allowance you have left.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
In the early days three were not that great and neither were their handsets but I have seen a massive improvement over the last 3 years. So much so that I now PREFER them to all the other networks.
I've got a nokia 6680 and get the following:
400 mins
250 texts
£5 downloads
25 mms
Free delivery reports (unlike crappy orange!)
I also use the gmail application which works great for my emails. Use the internet access alot which is superfast and now not restricted to the three portal which it used to be (and was annoying!!).
Overall I think three are great  Here's to many more years of free mobiles through CPW '3' cashback deals0 -
In case it's of interest I was all set to leave 3; i've been on the "Video Talk & Text 750" for £35 a month with CPW cashback to make an average of £17.50, which was due to end this month.
I went to the 3 shop as I work in town and asked them about any retention offers, and was told my only options were:
-upgrade and standard price plan,
-start a new contract with a new number,
-leave.
I told them I wasnt prepared to loose my number, or pay full price so they seemed quite happy for me to leave. I'm thinking that the shop staff are purely interested in commission from "brand new customers only"...
I was all set to get a Virgin mobile sim card for a couple of months, as part of their new deal with as Virgin Media, then look for a new contract in a couple of months when I'd figured out what I want, so phoned 3 and was put through to cancellations... where they told me they had call-centre only retention offers!
I was quite clear that my main priority was to have an average monthly spend of around £15 or less, and that I wanted a nokia handset that wasnt as large as my current one (6680).
I've ended up with a Nokia 6280 handset, and a Talk & test package of 500 minutes and 100 texts, for £12.50 a month for 12 months, better than what I had to start with!
Guess it goes to show you just need to have some patience in going through the Indian call centres - and sitting by a computer helps so that you can look up the phones they're talking about as they go through them!0 -
Just got a bill from 3 mobile where I have been overcharged - half price line rental stopped early.
I immediately phoned their customer services who have agreed that the bill is wrong but they say they cannot change the Direct Debit even though there is still 2 weeks until the payment goes out.
They are going to take money from my account that doesn't belong to them -This sucks.
If you are thinking of using 3 mobile - think again.

Ring back again they should agree to credit your account with the overchargeThanx

Thanks Lady_K - you would think that is the least they could do.
My bank cannot understand why they cannot change the debit with 2 weeks still to go - cannot be bothered more like.
3 say they will credit my next bill but not my bank account with the overcharge so it will be a month before I get my money back.
To make matters worse, I have two contracts, both taken out at the same time and with the same overcharge.

I noticed that my contract states that I will get the half price line rental for six months only. I am only in the first month but I guess the moral is to get in touch with them asap!0

Unfortunately not - I called them within a few hours of the bill hitting the doormat but according to 3 there is nothing they can do.
It's outrageous.

Handset: Nokia 6280
Most commonly used location: SE London - Greenwich & Bexley
Ease and reliability and connection: Good!
Overall service and rating (out of 10):9
Have been on 3 for over 3 years now, service appaling when started but for last 18 months no problems at all... They called me last year to renew 12 month contract offering 3 months half price, new phone and £120 credit back towards end of contract - chewed their hand off for that deal of course and beat 500x net mins and 100 texts for £30...
The phones do have a habit of going wrong from time to time but 3's repair service is ok (3 day turnaround) as long as you have a spare phone to tide you over!0
