    Handset sony erricson 650i

    used in Merseyside

I Signed up for a contract for 18 months in Superdrug, it has half price line rental from THREE for 6mths with double talk and text for 12mths 800mins and 500txts, best thing is that superdrug will pay £12.50 for the first six months on your contract and then £30 for the next 6mths, It has £5 worth of free downloads a month so technically you have a contract phone for nothing over 12mths. The last six months costs you £35 a month but once you have been with them for 12 mths you can downgrade the contract to a lower tarrif.

I have had no problems with it so far signal is brill :T, also get free messenger and internet (wap) and the 3G network lets me watch the TV.

    Happy THREE customer.

You were lying after all then? You mean they implied - you imply to; you infer from. ;)

I guess you have to record all your telephone conversations to be safe. :(

  • I have recently signed up for an 18th month contract with the 3 network(sold to me by Phone 4 U). I was assured that all landline calls were included with the free minute allocation but it was not until I received my first bill that I discovered the 08 numbers are not included. When contacted both Phones 4 U and 3 admitted that they do not mention this fact unless asked specifically. Almost half my calls are to 08 number, so this significantly affects the value of the package. Beware !!

That's the same for all packages I'm afraid: what they should have said was geographic numbers. The called party makes money out of 08xx numbers.

    Handset: LG u300

Most commonly used location:West coast of Scotland - wild and windy country!

    Ease and reliability and connection:
I moved from orange to 3 after I bought both my boys a 3 handset. (One uses an NEC PAYG, the other has a contract Nokia 6280, I think it is.) Was so impressed at what they got for their deals - internet access, music tracks, etc, -that I moved too. Got a year's free rental on a 12 month contract using https://www.simply3g.co.uk. (A redemption deal, but I have my bills numbered and ready to send away each quarter!)
Have to say, never thought I'd get into it, but now check my email and have done most of my Christmas shopping on Ebay using my phone! It's also fab for talking to pal in Oz via MSN, which is free. this alone has made it worth it.
LG is a great wee machine, hasn't dropped a call, only quibble is ringtones are slightly cheesy!

Any other problems:Nokia 6280 caused problems by freezing initially, but has settled down. India call centre is not great, but they are patient, and I found by writing my concerns down, someone from Glasgow phoned me back and was very good.

Overall service and rating (out of 10):In last 6 months a big fat 10!
  • Hiya does 3 have a good retention deal at the moment? My contract ends 16th december and I was wondering if anyone had any sucess getting a good retention from 3?

3 are the biggest load of con artists out. We took out a contract phone (never had one before) in January 2005. We were told it was 18 months. By Christmas the handset had packed up. Incoming calls got cut off- outgoing ones crackled so bad you couldn't have a proper conversation. Rang 3 to ask about another phone- we'd have to take out another 18 months contract. No thanks. We soldiered on with it. In May it gave up the ghost altogether. Dead. Defunct. Went to phones4u (another place we won't be going to again) and they rang 3 to reduce the final 2 months down to the minimum & sold DH (whose phone it was) a new 3 contract. 3 told phones4u that ours was a 12 month contract not 18 so had finished in January. How come they carried on charging us until May? WE hadn't cancelled it. Cancelled it there and then. Paid up to and including August even though we had NO service at all for half of May, all of June and July. Then get a demand in September. And another in October. I have written- they ignore my letters. I have phoned over and over again- you just get some half wit who can't speak English. I tried email and just got someone foreign ring me. All they say is it's "not on their system". Not my fault. Conveniently the request to reduce is on their system but not the cancellation. The endless calls about the crap piece of handset are not on their system. They are chasing me for £45 which I refuse to pay on principle, since as far as I'm concerned I paid an extra £40 odd for a service I didn't get between May and August. Now they've referred me to a debt collection agency. I am absolutely furious but don't know where I go from here. How does the small claims court work? How do these "contracts" work? If I have signed a contract that expires in January- as they say- how can they justify continuing to charge for another 10 months when I actually no longer have a valid contract with them?

no matter what, remember '' refused to pay on principle'' = ccj . no messing, never mind the story ' he said/she said' etc. sorry

  • 3 is the best. I never had any problem with them.

let face it they are still new comparing to rest of the newtworks. I mean not enough transmitor yet thats why they use O2 (Orange from 2007) for roaming where they can not reach enough. I am not very big fan of 3G. I am only with 3 because they are cheap i.e. loads of anytime minutes. at he moment I am on 750Anytime minutes and 150 txt.

I have been using LG8110, LG8120, Nokia 6630, Nokia 7600 and Motorola RAZRV3X and never had any drop signal COZ I have unlocked the phones and was able to keep the connection on 2G/O2 all the time, so where there is O2 my phone worked fine there.

Personally I believe that NOKIA phones are the best on 3 network as they are easy to unlock/mod to get hold of network setting feature and th worse are LG ones.

I might think about using 3G oneday when the TV is live (BBC, FIVE etc) and FREE :)
