    3 has a month-by-month tethering add-on for £5. It isn't unlimited it's 1gb, but I tether a lot and haven't exceeded it.

I think it's available for all pay monthly plans.

1GB wouldn't be alot if you streamed Sky Go, iPlayer or 4OD

My previous handset was a Samsung Galaxy 3 (i9300) and whenever I used the data tethering option on 'The One Plan' it worked fine. The moment I changed my package when my contract ended to a Unlimited Internet 300 package the tethering comes up with a tethering error block page suggesting you ring ring three customer services about a more suitable plan to upgrade to. I did this and paid the £5 fee and the same issue kept occurring. I got a refund credited to my account as the tech team said that the tethering packages were more suited to 'The One Plan' after providing technical support fixing the issue temporarily and once the call ended it went back to normal after a couple of minutes.

I think they just what you to be on the top plan and rinse you of your hard earnt cash.

True. I checked what 1gb would give me before buying the add-on; it was enough for me. I do use some data-heavy web pages regularly and I do watch videos, but I don't use iPlayer etc.. I get a lot more than I'd expected.

Obviously the One Plan is generally a better bet.
  • I got into trouble when they brought out the iPlayer app as I didn't realise how much data it would use up. 500mb a month was fine for just web browsing, but you'll need more than 1gb if you want to stream anything. Just use wifi if you can.
  • Handset: iPhone 4S 32GB

Most commonly used location: Scottish Borders

Ease and reliability and connection: As good as Orange/T-mobile/Vodfone and better than O2

Any other problems: None with Three

Overall service and rating (out of 10):

My only gripe with 3 is they occasionally phone to try and sell Mobile B/B but other than that

    9.5/10
  • Handset: iPhone 4S

Most commonly used location: South England (at home/college/work)

Ease and reliability and connection: Easy to use, pretty reliable, connection is okay - if I cross my road, I get nothing, but on my side I get full signal, and it's been this way since I was thirteen (five years!).

Any other problems: Didn't pay my bill once and now 3 are attempting to make me pay £66.24, which I've already paid.

Overall service and rating (out of 10): Probably a 7. Customer service with 3 has always been terrible.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hello I'm new to this thread so here goes: I have 2 monthly contract phones and one of them I'm not using at all. Have heard about how difficult Three can be when trying to cancel and after 15 minutes on the phone I finally did it. I had 6 months left on that particular contract so I knew I had to pay it off as well as early cancellation fee.

Will be over on 7th July :)

You shouldn't be scared of joining three based on the comments. The fact remains that all telecommunication suppliers are all the same, however, three is extremely good value compared to the other companies on the market.

The package is acceptable for the cost, taking it as your aware that that package won't allow you to use your phones tethering option. For that ability you would need to be on the one plan.

If you have a friend or family member thats already on three there is a SIM ONLY package available for previous customers.

600 minutes, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data for £6.95 a month :))))

When I upgraded I got the option to take it out in April 2013

The customer service rep said it was a 12 month contract. I was offered this without having to discuss everything about disconnecting. He said it was offered to everyone as a second SIM for your previous handset, so you could use it in emergences or have full access to the previous handset when transferring your numbers across.

Although this at first seems like only a upgrade and previous customers only deal my other half rang them back saying that I was offered this package when I upgraded and that she would like one.

She was given one without telling them any details about my account. So maybe its worth giving them a ring and just using the line that someone was offered the deal and that you would like to take the offer up yourself.

95% of these phone calls are code words any how. If you say the right things you can normally take full advantage of special offers.

If anyone would like me to ring them back and get full details I can :)

Any ideas how I can get this deal? I called them up, said I know of a couple of friends/family that got this deal, but they wouldn't budge.

Already have a PAC code from about a week ago. They could almost keep me as a customer for life if they gave me that deal!

Has anyone noticed that three does do not credit checks anymore? This is news to me. My wife went into a three store last week to browse some new phones and walked out with an iPhone 5 on the one plan for £35pm and no handset cost!
    I was impressed.

They didn't do one for her. They clearly stated that all they require is a photo ID and a bank card.
