...Just keeping fingers crossed but I have an awful feeling he will claim he didnt ever receive the letter from the court...

Do the Court not send things out recorded to save that "excuse"?

:grouphug: Beks & Mr Beks.....let the dust settle a little before decide what you want to do. I still think you would get all sorts of positive support when you are able to go public, especially with the fact that it was your OH's settlement that was enabling you to have your "dream turned nightmare".

I've got everything crossed for you, Beks!

Surely he can't be so stupid as to muck around with the court? He could end up inside!

And how is it that poor people who get parking tickets and can't afford to pay them, then get bailiffs at their door who demand hundreds of pounds and blokes like him seem to get off scott free! Outrageous!

Thanks Floss2 - No, the court only send things by first class post (apparently a cost cutting exercise !!!) I was astounded at that as it gives the defendant a great excuse (a previous poster said they knew someone who claimed this) but I am hoping that if he wanted to contest it, he would have done that and replied in the first place - he could have even asked for an extension of 28 days!

I think leaving it for a while will happen while we decide what to do. The money we are hoping to get back is now allocated towards a new car!

I am hoping to go public (and of course I will on here) but OH is a little more reluctant about going to the press - doesn't like to make a thing of his 'disbability' (not that it is a disability as he has run more marathons and jumped out of more planes than me lol!). He just want to get his money back and walk away, me on the otherhand wants to stand up and shout from the rooftops so everyone hears ;). I will show him this thread later and see if it helps to persuade him. Anyway .... we don't need to decide about that just yet, we need to wait until we get our money back .....

Jemster - thank you lol!! Your OH sounds like exforces, there is great camaraderie with forces and ex-forces.

Thanks again everyone else, your support has been amazing! :T

Already done the Barbados and St Lucia thing (we got engaged in Barbados)!! h2b is off to Antigua in a few weeks time (charity sailing thing so all paid for!), I was supposed to go with him but because dd broke her arm, will be staying in the UK instead - great timing! We did think about doing a really short notice wedding but wouldnt have got it done in time anyway!
  • So chuffed for you! Hope it gets sorted!

I would wait a bit as well, it would be a shame if you changed your plans because of this one person. I can also see why you would want to avoid publicity...but then think of all the poor brides to be that will continue to get ripped off! It may not help those who have already booked, but it may well put them, deservedly, out of business.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o
