Wedding venue problems - want to cancel.

Thank you ladies for PMing me. As I told them, we seriously considered this venue, lucky escape or what?
This time last year we had just got engaged and they were advertising a great deal on the radio. We went to the open day but it wasn't that great, and for a wedding this year we had to go back, so I made an appointment. The man indicated for a Thursday wedding, we would get a good deal. Well, when we returned they weren't expecting us, and the guy wasn't there. The woman left us sitting there for about ten minutes then came back and said she would deal with us. We went through it and it came to £10k. We said that we were expecting a deal, she got back on the phone to him and cut it down to £5k just like that. We were a bit shocked to be honest. The rooms were really small - apparently they are being refurbished -they look like a stable block! We thought about it and it's location, the fact they seemed disorganised etc put us off, as well as the fact that a few minutes before they were trying to make £5k more out of us! They were advertising the same deal again for £3.5k earlier this year. No regrets about the lovely venue we chose over them then, we got a Christmas card from them!
Sorry Beks hope you get it sorted, that is really shocking. I will be avoiding this and the other venue they have to eat at in protest for you!
OMG! This sounds very similar to our first meeting with them!! I arranged meeting over the phone with him and when we got there, we said we had a meeting to discuss our wedding. The lady we spoke to said we can't have because she was the wedding coordinator!!! We were told to sit down (out the way as we had our LOL with us!!) and waited about 20 mins before he appeared - no apology.
We too were told the £10k price and then got it down to £5k - mmmm, must be their sales ploy! We were taken in by the sales pitch and the fact I liked the location (I was brought up out in the country), how much do we regret that decision now - more than anything believe me!!! Taadaa thank goodness you escaped, I would hate to come across someone on here who had already booked.
Oh and Lousie - the name - there are those animals in the field opposite, not sure about the hot part though. Flaming nuisance if you ask me.
Anyone pm-ing venue name, please be careful. I do not want this leaked before we can get our money back (no offence meant but we cannot afford to have gone this far and then get it wrong by it going to the wrong person - done the same myself but been thinking about this in the past 24 hours).
Thanks for all the support everyone, nothing we can do at the moment, just waiting for court to get their act together (probably be waiting even longer with all this snow). :mad:0 -

Tell you what Beks, once this is all over with and you have your money back, I wouldn't hesitate in going to the press with how these barstewards are treating people.
