If you haven't signed anything yet, be careful not to do it now as that might make your life harder getting the money back. As things stand, if you had to go to court to get the money back, you can prove you paid it and they have no proof of what the service they were supposed to provide was, wheras if you sign a contract and there are any clauses about forefeitting deposits in (and I'm not sure what the legal position is on that even if it doesn't have anything in there), you might be in trouble.
Good luck!
I gather you haven't read the thread? lol
The OP has come a long way since the first post was posted! (Which was back in September):)Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Well its taken me over an hour! 17 pages! But can't leave this without saying
GOOD LUCK I really hope you get your money back and get the day you both want in the end. Best wishes
Just to say I had a hunt & I think I found your hotel, I notice the site says they are not taking bookings so I have it all crossed for you that they haven't gone belly up.0 -

Mmmm, that is a little concerning! I found a website saying that too now!
It doesnt say that on their main website though and they are still taking wedding bookings (well they were when I tried a few weeks ago
!!)
Possibly because of the snow right now they arent taking bookings or maybe they are trying to be in weddings before they open up the rooms to all (I think this is what they did last year (*I hope anyway*). Not going to worry for now, might make another enquiry and see the response I get!!
I am concerned now though, it would be just typical!! :rolleyes:0 -
OMG! This sounds very similar to our first meeting with them!! I arranged meeting over the phone with him and when we got there, we said we had a meeting to discuss our wedding. The lady we spoke to said we can't have because she was the wedding coordinator!!! We were told to sit down (out the way as we had our LOL with us!!) and waited about 20 mins before he appeared - no apology.
We too were told the £10k price and then got it down to £5k - mmmm, must be their sales ploy! We were taken in by the sales pitch and the fact I liked the location (I was brought up out in the country), how much do we regret that decision now - more than anything believe me!!! Taadaa thank goodness you escaped, I would hate to come across someone on here who had already booked.
Yeah, it must be a sales ploy for sure. I am so glad, I just read the most recent review, can you imagine being reduced to tears on your wedding day?? I think my h2b would have knocked him out! :rotfl:I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I can't believe what I've just read! I thought my wedding planning was stressful, needless to say I've changed my mind now...!
I really hope you get it sorted Beks. I'm keep everything crossed for you
Just been on the website and noticed that there is an open day this Sunday...I think we should all go and hand out flyers with reviews from trip advisor printed on them!
One thing I noticed on trip advisor is that all the good reviews were posted by someone who joined the same day, now the chances of that many people joining JUST to review that hotel, all within days of each other and most of which have only posted a review for THAT hotel! Dodgy!Married 5th June 20101st Baby born 12th April 2011:j0 -

How did you find the venue?!! Just interested as am a bit worried it is still a little too obvious lol!!! Cannot afford for anything to scupper our chances of winning at this point!!! The venue has had the same advert for open day for months - think the last one was November time (and I only found out about that one after the event or I would have been handing out flyers myself lol!!). Great idea though, I hope I could get some willing volunteers together! FUnny enough, it is not stressing me anymore, I have no control over the outcome now and have done everything I can so far so for now it is a waiting game (waiting for the courts is all we can do now .... may find out monday but doubtful as local court is having heavy snow right now!!!!)
I had not noticed the join date of the good reviews - very interesting!!! Too true, a well dodgy place!!!0 -

I know, I cannot imagine what they have gone through! And it wasn't even them who put it up on trip advisor! Its the swearing at them that got me ...I am pretty sure it must have been the owner, that is how he was with us when we told him we wanted our money back. He obviously cannot deal with problems. You are right Franny, at least that will not happen to us but I don't want it to happen to anyone else either. Its so frustrating not being able to publicise it (but also the right thing to do)!0 -
OMG! I've just worked out which place it is and read the reviews! Just disgraceful!
Beks - I'm even more stunned now! This man just can't be allowed to get away with this appalling behaviour - you go, girl!!
xxx
Edit to add - will PM you, Beks on how I found the place.0
